On 30 April 1945, after intense street-to-street combat, when Soviet troops were within a block or two of the Reich Chancellery, Hitler and Braun committed suicide; Braun bit into a cyanide capsule[294] and Hitler shot himself with his 7.65mm Walther PPK pistol.[295] The lifeless bodies of Hitler and Eva Braun were carried up the stairs and through the bunker's emergency exit to the bombed-out garden behind the Reich Chancellery, where they were placed in a bomb crater[296] and doused with petrol. The corpses were set on fire[297] and the Red Army shelling continued. --La Wik on Adolf HitlerOne bullet in the Beerhall would have saved everyone a lot of pain, expense, aggro, and unnecessary foreign travel. Oddly enough, or not, one of the the construction companies bidding on the NSA "Let's spy on everything American's do, fuck the constitution", Intercept Center in Utah was Turner Construction, a subsidiary of the company that built the bunker and the little love-nest in Bavaria.
Nothing really changes, does it?
Ah, the Walther PPK. Great little piece, more a police weapon than a true combat gun. Owning one is the mark of a true pistolero, since you have to hit a vital target with the first shot -- the 7,5 mm / .32 ACP lacks the knockdown power of true battlefield weapon like the .45 ACP.
Of course, when placed in the mouth, it's more than enough. Good riddance to Adolf Elizabeth Hitler, history's #1 white trash loser.

I wonder whether, if Hitler had got himself killed during WWI, some other demagogue would have risen in his place. After all, one of the reasons he got power at all was the parlous state of post-WWI Germany with its hyperinflation and so on.
Most likely would have been a Soviet-style tyranny. Of course Hitler was a monster, but his evil was far from the whole story.

The man would be green with envy if he knew what the State routinely does today.
