Who's Really in Charge in the Oval Office

The nation has suspected this for some years, but now we have the proof!

The kid's pretty cute, too.

I blame Amy.

She knew she'd lose her baby, and decided to die because of it.

Buckley said MERE despair is mortal sin.

Perhaps another reading of Nearer, My God by Buckley should, I would like to think, be in order.

K. Shaidle, R.S. McCain, J.P. Freire: Stupid, Stupid, Stupid

According to the dictionary, if you say that someone or something is stupid, you mean that they show a lack of good judgment or intelligence and they are not at all sensible.

This applies to Kathy Shaidle, Robert Stacy McCain, and J. P. Freire, at least when William F. Buckley is rememberd.

Shaidle plays in the big leagues of stupid. Freire and McCain aren’t as dense, but still claim “what we need is fewer Bill Buckleys and more Bob Novaks.”

Shiadle is a liar. William F. Buckley held down numerous jobs in his career, as anyone with internet access or a memory during the 50′s through 90′s could tell you, were they to give a shit.

McCain and Freire are wrong because William F. Buckley helped lead (or create some would say) the conservative movement for decades, with a great success (Reagan). What kind of conservatism do McCain and Freire want if there are less leaders and more people reporting that fact?

It seems McCain’s argument, such as it is, is that “more Buckley’s” is equivalent to saying “more blowhards” or “more historians” or “more pontificating.” This isn’t what Buckley stands for though, and McCain should know it. When McCain writes “We need fewer kids who want to lecture us about what Russell Kirk really meant, and more kids who don’t mind getting their hands dirty doing the basic business of reporting the news” I agree with him, but this has nothing to do with William F. Buckley.

Buckley was writing must-read books out of college and shortly thereafter starting National Review, not lecturing anyone.

James Rosen shall have the last words.

Buckley is dead.

notquiteunBuckley--

Yeah, that was the first thought I had when looking at the picture.
