Apple's new 175-acre 'spaceship' campus dubbed "Apple Park" is nearing completion and is set to begin moving in Apple employees. The new headquarters, designed by Lord Norman Foster and costing roughly $5 billion, will house 13,000 employees in over 2.8 million square feet of office space and will have nearly 80 acres of parking to accommodate 11,000 cars.
Pretty much everybody that will work inside this monument to hubris will hate, absolutely hate, everything the Pentagon stands for. And they will depend, every moment of every day, on the power of the Pentagon to keep their lives, their fortunes, and their non-existent honor.

Examples: Sears started down the slope after finishing Sears Tower; the paint was still drying in Enron's headquarters when they crashed; Compaq builds new office campus and immediately starts selling pieces of it.
Most corporate conglomerates bloom in spite of management, not because of it.

If they have to sell that building to keep from going under who would be a likely buyer?
Only 1 entity, besides Apple itself, is capable of swinging that kind of money.
Is Apple too big to fail?
Maybe he can call it "Trump Donut", and install the west coast pentagon in it.
Posted by: ghostsniper at May 6, 2017 2:51 PMActually, the Pentagon was supposed to be round but engineering and construction at the time could not make it happen on so vast a scale. So the five sides were a compromise adopted (say, rather than six sides) because of the shape of the land where it was originally sited.
But that site fell through (too close to active Arlington Cemetery space) so the present site was adopted. The Pentagon was a rush project so they kept the five sides design to save time and money.
The Pentagon has more than 6 million sq ft of floor space, 17.5 miles of corridors, something like 21 acres of windows, and no elevators (omitted to save steel in WW2). Despite its size, you can walk to any point in the building in no more than 10 minutes.
When I was stationed there more than 20 years ago, I would often get asked, "How many people work at the Pentagon?" My usual answer was, "About half of 'em."

Don: interesting that you worked there! I only visited it one time, from my lowly station as an NG officer. The day before, they had had a bombing somewhere in the vast building, and it was no big deal. They had forgotten my appointment (which I had confirmed on a schedule weeks and days before), but they went ahead with me.
It made me feel that much better to be more organized than the pentagon. Once.
