SCHMUCK!

Some signs of summer remind one of last January. In case you were asking yourself, "Hey, whatever happened to the Concordia?"

Vacationers stood on a beach Wednesday on Italy’s Giglio island, facing the capsized cruise ship Costa Concordia. Salvage crews began work this week on preparations to refloat the vessel, which ran aground in January.

At some point in the not too distant future when someone is asked, "Whatever happened to that thing knows as 'the European Union'?," this image is all you'd need to make a complete and rational answer.

I'm ignorant about whether people make a habit of swimming in the Mediterranean around there, but it sure would be pleasant to be certain that all the dead bodies had been located and removed from the wreck, just in case.
