Contemporary American Classics: Addicted to Love

It's a simple concept: Smoking hot brunettes in tight black dresses playing ZZ Top electric guitars. You have to make a conscious effort to even notice Robert Palmer.

Result: Never. Gets. Old. Never

Your lights are on, but you're not home
Your mind is not your own
Your heart sweats, your body shakes
Another kiss is what it takes
You can't sleep, you can't eat
There's no doubt, you're in deep
Your throat is tight, you can't breathe
Another kiss is all you need
Ohh oohh

You like to think that you're immune to the stuff...oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're gonna have to face it
You're addicted to love

You see the signs, but you can't read
You're runnin' at a different speed
You heart beats in double time
Another kiss and you'll be mine, a one track mind
You can't be saved
Oblivion is all you crave
If there's some left for you
You don't mind if you do
Ohh oohh

You like to think that you're immune to the stuff
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're gonna have to face it
You're addicted to love

Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love

Your lights are on, but you're not home
Your will is not your own
Your heart sweats and teeth grind
Another kiss and you'll be mine

Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love

Nice tune, studio cut. The chicks are there for the eye candy, not actually playing the instruments. It does vibe ZZ Top on reds.

If time didn’t go by so fast I wouldn’t dwell so much in the past.

Never.

"If time didn’t go by so fast I wouldn’t dwell so much in the past."
Brings to mind Faulkner:
"The past is never dead. It's not even past."

Timeless style:Palmer in white shirt & black tie. Girls in smoky eye, red lipstick, sheer black hose and black pumps.

Wonder where they are now?

Robert Who??

I always thought they were going for a Jackie O. look with the girls, myself.

I saw Robert Palmer play Portland, a bit before this song broke. It was one of those cheapo "up and coming new artist" concerts. And he was good, put on a good show. I always liked this song and the video.

I never did think Palmer was that great. I'm not dissin' the guy, to each his own. He's good, gives a good show, money's worth. The chicks are OK, easy on the eyes but by no means exclusive.

ZZ Top has some good vids with hot chicks, more choreography.

Anything is better than the hippie chicks I hadda put up with. I'd give one Tina Turner for a whole decade's hippie girls.

"The chicks are there for the eye candy, not actually playing the instruments."

As is immediately obvious to anyone who has ever played. Seriously, they were spending whatever obscene amount they were paying, and they couldn't teach the ladies to fake it? Make it part of the dance routine—step right, move your hand to here, step left, move your hand there. Since they weren't recording the sound, it wouldn't matter if they didn't press down and the strings would sound with a leaden clunk, just make it look less obvious, okay?
