North Korean Traffic "Coordinators" and "Traffic"

Good to see they've got this under control in advance of, you know, cars.

A North Korean traffic coordinator stands on duty in Pyongyang.

North Koreans commute to work in Pyongyang.

Can't happen here, right? Right. And so sad too. Just imagine if our progressive betters could simply round up everyone going to work and pop them on bicycles or stack them inside of dump trucks or cattle cars. Just imagine how our carbon footprints would shrink!

These are from the photoessay North Korea Prepares for a Milestone Year @ In Focus. Over there you can see another great thing -- besides traffic -- that North Korea appears to have conquered: Obesity! It doesn't seem, even looking at the thousands and thousands of people in these pictures, that anyone at all in North Korea is overweight except, perhaps, its leaders. The people are marvelously slim and trim. Communism, what can't it accomplish?

Michelle should live there and lose her back. Rump-l-stilkin has to be her dietician.

Don't forget they also have social justice in North Korea!

The traffic coordinator has nice boots, anyway.

Author James Church sets his novels in North Korea, where his protagonist, Inspector O, is always dodging the beautiful traffic girls. Church's descriptions of the insanely convoluted North Korea are haunting and desperate.

I'd want her to leave her hat on.
