No matter what you think about Trump, this ad is sheer political genius

My pal who forwarded this to me writes: "I still don't like Trump But it is going to be an interesting campaign. This is hilarious and I think will be proven very effective. Looks like we are going to see ads on one side that are from gut instinct, and committee Focus-Group Think on the other. Should be good!"

UPDATE: This morning Scott Adams notes:
"Many of you asked my opinion on Trump’s anti-Clinton ad that shows Hillary Clinton barking like a dog and Putin laughing. I give the ad an A+ for persuasion. It was funny and doesn’t take itself too seriously, but at the same time it appealed to our irrational minds just as Trump intends. Your rational mind knows that Clinton’s “barking” has nothing to do with anything. But your irrational mind sees Putin and ISIS looking powerful on the video while Clinton barks like a chihuahua.

"The humor in the ad is what makes it work. Without the humor it would look like a lame comparison. And people equate a good sense of humor with high intelligence, whether or not that is true. The ad leaves us feeling that Trump is funny-smart and Clinton is ridiculous.

"You know who wasn’t funny? Hitler, that’s who. Every time Trump makes us laugh he chips away at the Hitler meme that has been dogging him. So it works on a branding level too.

"Don’t listen to the 2D pundits who say the ad looked like it was created by a college student. Ignore anyone who says it lacks content. That video is a masterpiece of viral persuasion." Stamina - Trump's Lingistic Kill Shot for Clinton... | Scott Adams Blog

Confucius said it a long time ago (Rectification of Names). Hans Christian Andersen had his version, Orwell wrote about it it, but whilst we read and nodded wisely, we were too smart to ever go down that path ourselves and discounted it, Wretchard at Belmont Club talks far more insightfully than I can about corruption of information and censorship and how eventually it's impossible to make correct real world decisions or even to think about them... and yet here we are deluged in SHIT and ruled over by a clerisy of unholy fools.

Trump for all his vulgarity, might just get through to people. I pray that he does.

I am not sure what is worse, the ruling class that thinks it knows what is best for us all, or the idiots that keep voting those same bastards back in.

I love the ad and so does my springer! I guess she does a pretty good dog imitation.

Remember those Cruz ads, the ones that were supposed to be brilliant? Me either. This is one of the most effective political ads I've seen since the classic anti-Goldwater one.

Trump understands media very well. The ad is concise and easily recalled - which is why jingles work so well.

I think the way for Hillary to counter this is to nominate alpha female Rhonda Rousey for vice president. That'll put the fear of God into Putin

Lennie -

I recognize the irony of your remark, but seriously, folks....

Do you really believe a lifetime surrounded by Russian females would allow for intimidation by a female show-biz "boxer?" Please.

Fifteen seconds. Fifteen seconds at a time. Godspeed you magnificent bastards!

The FEMALE Clinton barking like a DOG brings home the point that she is truly a BITCH.

We can't spare this man. He FIGHTS!

Could it be that all of the 8 years we wallowed under the Clintons, and in mire ever since, were meant for just this time when we shall laugh our (LMFAO) at Hillary for the next few months? God save Don Trump. Let the mud slinging begin.

I'm going to need some beer and snacks for this...

I like to remind folks that Grant was called a loser and a drunk. (Sherman said " he stuck by me when I was crazy and I stuck by him when he was drunk")

After that pathetic attempt by Romney, after being told to be nice and respectful every election, it's so refreshing to have someone get right in their faces and give back what they get. No wonder so many have the vapors.

Rob,
I would bet my house on the American in a no holds barred cage match on Rousey vs. Putin. An Olympic caliber grappler vs. and old guy black belt. No comparison. Unless Putin could sneak a baby nuke into the cage, Rousey wins 1,000 times out of 1,000.

Snakes,

If you really think that any woman would make a Russian back down you don't know any.

Sure, maybe in a fair fight she'd kick his ass - and he'd get back up and force here to kick it again, unlike virtually any American under the age of 60 who'd beg her forgiveness for bleeding.

When a man punches that gurl in the face she will go out like a light instantly.

The key word in that sentence is *man*.

Anyone that questions that, needs to take inventory in their own britches.

Rob, I used the name of Ronda Rousey because she once was a world class female judoka who won a bronze medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In the video you see Putin practicing a judo technique ("tai otoshi", to be exact)

Putin, BTW, is moving very well for someone his age. There's no doubt that he's a genuine black belt. A judo match between him and Rousey would be an interesting spectacle.
