Naked Seattle's Dueling Data Points

The Onslaught
Taken at the 2009 Parade

At noon today Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade kicks off with the famous naked bicyclists, in the hundreds.

Seattle weather forecast for noon today: 58 degrees, Wind 5mph SSE, rain showers.

Bridal Party

Gives me goosebumps.

I once rode a bicycle naked. But it was in the only place one should ever do so: in a bad dream.

For the male observer of such an event, cold weather is to be preferred. Makes some things more visible, and some things less...if you know what I mean.

You would probably get something more horrific than goosebumps, Gerard, if you actually touched one of them.

Like SF's Bay to Breakers or New Orleans' Mardi Gras, a little public nekkidness is okay if it's part of what I call "Festival Time": a certain physical and temporal space wherein the normal social rules are relaxed, and ol' Dionysius can have free reign among mortals for awhile. Plus, I'd far rather have Seattle's boho/avant types painting their bodies and riding bikes naked, than angrily protesting some contrived *cause du jour*.

Never been happier about crappy weather in June.

This was followed up by the annual "Hipptaditty Festival"

Hipptaditty:
Never misses a chance to sniff a bicycle seat.

It's always the wrong people who choose to be naked in public.
