We called it ski-jogging. Grab the bumper of a passing car in your school shoes. You generally lost your gloves if you hit a melted out manhole cover.

In Michigan, we called it skitching, and we wore our Sunday shoes, much to our mom and dad's consternation. Our shoes required much polishing, after those skitching outings, under our dad's watchful eye.
