All The Presidents’ Menus @ The Awl:

Theodore Roosevelt: Hard boiled eggs, hominy, rolls, milk crackers, cantaloupe, tea (especially Caravan and Hu-Kwa), chicken (especially fried chicken with gravy), dandelion greens, fiddlehead fern salad, pigs in blankets, liver and bacon, kidney stew, Indian pudding, white wine, shad and shad roe, game meats, oysters, green turtle soup, and coffee, into which Roosevelt sometimes stirred as many as seven lumps of sugar. There is a deep current of belief in the United States that people have a right to choose their preferred treatments

without government interference. Cries of “Death Panels” are routinely directed against health care reform proposals that might limit patients’ access to medical products and procedures. FDA is furiously attacked, on freedom of choice grounds, for withdrawing approval of drugs. Polls show overwhelming support for the legalization of medical marijuana. -- The Origins of American Health Libertarianism by Lewis Grossman

The best length for a first stock whip is a 7 or 8 foot thong. The best length for a first bull whip is about 8 feet. -- David Morgan: Whip Frequently Asked Questions

All those youngsters' grandparents were prolly hippies, Gerard. I can't remember a time in my life where wearing my gramma's clothes would have ever been considered hip. What is it about the hippie generation that makes it so durable and repackageable - as far as fashion goes?

I could see this kind of music being popular in the early 60s, but not 1968.
