He became surprisingly bitter as he got older.

Never cared for George Carlin.
He never once made me laugh.
Nonetheless, I wish I could disagree.

I've seen George funny and right, and I've seen him funny though wrong, but this is the first time I've seen him with the light out. Politically, he never grew up, but here he just got old.

Lazy people always have an excuse for leaving things to someone else. Whether it's inshallah, NWO/Burgerbilders (sic) are running things, or the system is rigged, there is no end to the excuses.

Revolutions prove otherwise. Surprises prove otherwise. Ask Bill Gates and Steve Jobs how the system is rigged to prevent the wrong outcome. They broke the old system. Ask Keith Olberman about the power of large media corporations to impose their will on viewers. Ask the NY Times about using entrenched power to hide stories after the internet came along.

I agree with one thing Carlin said. The system is rigged. People that DO will always have more power than people that don't do. You can have as much control over your life and the country as you are willing to exercise, the problem is most people are congenitally lazy or cowardly. They won't do, so they make excuses, up to and including UFO and mind-control rays.

Sure the system is rigged. Big news 3 or 4 years ago. IRS learns of 50,000 Americans who are hiding money in Swiss UBS bank. Not a single one prosecuted for tax evasion.

This is one of those moments where Carlin is more preacher than comic. He's so good you just want to go with him into that cynical place. I can't decide whether he's too dark or not dark enough though. As a good Leftist, he only sees the power and greed of the corporations and totally discounts the power of the government to corrupt, coerce and destroy freedom. Then again maybe it's like JPod says - our politicians are letting themselves get sold for to little.

Things can get better and good things can happen it's just really hard. Best not to put your faith even in the US government but in God alone who gave us freedom.

All of this delivered to an audience that paid--what, $65 a seat?
