I thought of the bookcase as a theft-deterrent not to survive the jack-booted thugs of some Federal Gun Inspection Service. It seems pretty nice to me.

There are also places around your house now you can use as a theft-resistant hiding place.I won't mention them, but ignore the first few places that pop to mind. Everybody looks there first. Burglars will always look in the bedrooom, bathroom, and where you have electronics.

Also, if you have a fire, the fire department won't do much to douse the flames if there is ammo in the house cooking off. If you don't have the ammo stored in a fire-resistant location, you might want to take it as you leave so the FD can do their job.

If you have kids in the house, make sure you train them and then take them shooting so much they are bored by guns. Let them shoot a few watermelons so they can see what happens if they screw up with a gun.

Good points Scott. I don't know how you can hide stuff from LEA if they are determined to find it since their exists technology to see even into the earth for hidden caches of whatever. Maybe off site at a storage facility?

In our home state of Washington, we have now a legislature that has members who want your sheriff to inspect your house for firearms. I'm pretty sure my county won't consent to that, but it does make me wish for some ballsy legislators who would jail their fellows for such rank stupidity. It would benefit them to be under protection, in my estimation.

Gov. Inslee,

Show some leadership in Olympia and call the legislators on the carpet for those who want county sheriffs to inspect homes for firearms.

I stand with American politicians and sheriffs nationwide who have told Washington DC that the latest threats to my 2d Amendment rights are unconstitutional, and frankly obscene in their intent. They are bullying us, and your party in Olympia is also bullying us!

Stop this now, Mr. Governor. Any government law impacting personal ownership of firearms, to include gathering of information regarding who owns what as a prelude to imposition of more laws, is an abridgment of the Bill of Rights.

Not the best written, but definitely angry enough. Tired of the threats.
