My pool man charges me extra for elephant control, but it's worth it. Haven't seen one yet.

Two things come to mind. 1) At least she didn't want a bath..... and

2) Drinking chlorinated water in sufficient quantities can give a spot of diarrhea. Um.... just sayin' .........

I'm pretty sure that's a bull elephant. He's big, and he's alone. And since elephants are smart, and that water probably doesn't taste very good (he only took two trunkfuls, and walked away with a disgusted look and an irritated flap of his ears), I doubt that the pool will become part of the elephants' tribal memory of where the reliable watering holes are.

Oh my. My pool man has some explaining to do.

Those folks ought to be grateful that it was in a good mood.

My first thought was, "If an elephant can just casually walk up to the pool, what's next? Lion, leopard, scorpion, black mamba?" He's not just going door to door in Newport Beach.

On a trip in Tanzania, stayed at a lodge with a pool. No fence, just like this one. The baboons loved it - chlorine and all. Baboons are one thing, a bull elephant is a whole 'nother ball game.

My, what a great story that will make for those swimmers. "There I was, chest deep in chlorinated pool water, when this elephant walked up..."

Maybe the bull quit drinking because he smelled/tasted pee and poo in the water. Those bathing humans were awfully still.

Either that or it wasn't muddy enough. Elephants like to get wet and muddy every day if possible.

Reminds me of a friend of mine who had a 'squirrel' moment in Swaziland, except the squirrel was a giraffe who stuck it's face in front of the camera. Then there was the jar in the kitchen that miraculously changed color because a black mamba had coiled about it. Seems you need to stay alert parts of Africa.

I guess if you like wildlife up close and personal, a home on the veldt is the place for you. These folks are fortunate the elephant didn't decide to join them in the pool.

Rather rude of them not to offer her a real beverage, and a towel.
