My Latina mother could generate a significant fraction of that rage, violence, and insanity.

Actually, this is pretty typical for Mexican novelas. Incredible amounts of screaming, hollering and all around mayhem. (full disclosure: my wife is Mexican and watches them semi-regularly. Cuna de Lobos, anyone?). I run and hide when they're on.

dang that Saroya sure could use a green card. I don't think we have quite enough psychos on hand here in the good old USA

Had an Apache woman a long time ago. Been there Done that. Nothing at all to recommend the experience.

Never watched the telenovelas except to laugh.

Me some thirty miles north of the border. Proximity tends to incur boredom and indifference.

The only crime was the bad acting.

Why is it that Mexican politicians, TV actors and celebrities all look like Europeans, but those mexicans sneaking across the border all look like indians?

Is it possible that the ruling elites of mexico - many (most?) of which are direct descendents of the spaniards- want the indigenous mexicans ( the indians) out of mexico?

Just asking.

Latin American elites (Communists) are just as racist as American Liberal elites(Socialists), and the racism in Mexico City is latent, but undeniable. They may pride themselves on being very European, progressive and humanistic, but they'd disown a daughter or son who married an indigenous Mexican.
