A carbon tax will surely make America stronger, healthier, and more friendly looking to Islamic terrorists. :-) Only a BIG thinker and admirer of the Chinese Commie government like Friedman could figure that one out.

That may be the single, most foolish thing I have ever read.

Posted by: Katherine at December 28, 2013 4:14 PM

As my wife would say "He doesn't have the sense God gave a chicken".

Posted by: David McKinnis at December 28, 2013 4:21 PM

If it doesn't make sense say it with authority and make it sound convincing.

Posted by: Potsie at December 28, 2013 4:26 PM

I dunno. The NYT trying to resurrect the Mo video as the trigger for the Benghazi atrocity must top it. Is there no level of risible mendacity to which they will not descend in attempting to save Clinton's craphole?

Posted by: Frank P at December 28, 2013 4:28 PM

...and America's intellectual elites lap up Friedman's vomit.

Posted by: pst314 at December 28, 2013 4:30 PM

Au contraire, in the PC world of the New York Times it makes perfect sense. Friedman can't come right out and say that the bigoted ideology in question is Wahabbi Islamism. So instead he says we need a carbon tax to reduce our oil imports that in the end support the spread of the Death Cult. That's what happens when one communicates in PC SPEAK, you wind up sounding like an idiot because reality always trumps liberal sensibilities.

And the best place to start levying that tax would be all over that dumbass Thomas Friedman. What a chancre on life itself.

Posted by: ghostsniper at December 28, 2013 7:58 PM

I would pay substantial folding money to watch this cretin flossed with a chain saw.

Friedman has made a lucrative career out of sloppily analyzing the obvious and suggesting non-sequiturs as answers, based on his faulty analysis. This is no different. It's apparent that he has not noticed the American energy boom that has propelled the US to near self-sufficiency in oil and a surplus in natural gas. In spite of the 0bama Administration's distinct lack of enthusiasm for these efforts, the Wahhabis (and the Ayatollahs and Maduro's Venezuela) are becoming less and less relevant to the US, at least in terms of energy supply.

Thomas Friedman has an uncanny ability to put sesquipedalian words into such orbits that the entire portmanteau could only be imprinted unto the NYT.

N.B.: The above was not praise.

A roman Senator, Cato, usually finished his speeches on any subject in the Senate with the phrase ceterum censeo Carthaginem esse delendam, which means "Furthermore, it is my opinion that Carthage must be destroyed". It didn't matter what the subject he was always able to bring in his own pet agenda as the final word.

Is this the same Thomas Friedman that lives in a full-acre sized home in the Hamptons or some such?
Then of course, it is fine for him to lecture us on how the US should be optimized to quell the Islamists. Sure. Fine. From your lips to God's ear....

not.
