The 9 Minute Lecture on How to Have a Longer Life: The Basis of My Current Program

Works for me and I wish I'd started it before my heart stopped.

More useful data packed into this excellent snappy cartoon lecture than during 77 years of visiting the quacks. Good advice indeed.

My quacks have been telling me this for almost as long as Mom has been telling me to eat my vegetables. But who listens to folks like that?

I do. Because I have to.

I didn't. Now I wish I did.

Once I had a choice. Now I still do.

I think I'll go for a walk, now.

Now that my dog is gone, walking seems awful. I used to have to do 2-5 miles per day or i'd get "the look".

After V died in October, I got a dr appt and a clean bill of health (I am a woman, 5'9" and weighed 397#), yep, no diabetes, hypertension, kidney or liver damage, no high cholesterol. I started with 15 minutes on a treadmill each morning and have worked it up to 20 minutes with a 2 degree incline 5 days a week. After 3 weeks, I noticed many differences, but the most interesting was a willingness to add more time and effort. I have also lost 27#s so far. Glad you are still around to make different choices.

That's what's so great about American Digest. Really good stuff just keeps coming. And it's free!

I used to 'truck', or walk FAST from the Transbay Terminal in SF to 4th and Folsom St and back five days a week, back when I was in my 30's.
Then we moved work to Pleasanton, and I parked 'out there' and always took the stairs instead of the elevator. Then moved to GA, and much less walking and stair usage, though the driveway is close to 500 feet to get the mail.
But, I *did* nothing else exercise-wise.
I forwarded the URL for the presentation to almost all living siblings and friends, with the subject:
"Can you limit sitting and sleeping to 23 1/2 hours a day?"
I sort of 'knew' what to do before it was officially kosher from the Docs. Lucky me.
We're all gonna die, so determine what you want to do with the rest of your life. It will trickle away if you let it.
