The Heat of Hot Air

HOTMALKIN.jpg

I WOULD LIKE TO GO ON RECORD as asserting that I only watch Michelle Malkin's new videoblog Hot Air for the content. And I say that as a man who was an editor of Penthouse for decades.

Just what are you suggesting, my good man?

Wait til you lecherous old codgers get to know her, as I do. Video doesn't do her justice.

Snicker.

I just reed the r2cals.

Cher Allah,
I suggest nothing. I imply everything.
Yours in Christian Endeavor,

I don't know what's stranger:

Our benevolent host implying a secret fondness for Malkin, or our benevolent host being an editor for Penthouse.

Not that there's anything wrong with either, it's just not what I expected.

It's her mind that captivates me, I tell you, her mind and her mind alone.

PS: I haven't worked for Penthouse since 2002.

Posted by: Van der Leun at May 5, 2006 12:37 PM

Oh her mind may very well captivate you, but I'm sure your attention span is not shortened by the picture.

Politically, what was Penthouse like? Due to my current living arrangements (Oak Park, Illinois - all Hemingway and stuff) I've got 3 Playboy employees around me. Not like janitors or anything, but actual product type people.

Strangest thing: They're very benign in terms of politics, and in fact, tend to lean conservative on things. They say that's pretty much status quo on Playboy.

On the other hand, I know a few guys who work over at another similarly styled magazine who say it's Moonbat central. In a very political industry, I find it strange that there's variation from publication to publication.

Dan: If you told me their acquaintances work for Larry Flynt, I'm not sure I'd be surprised.

So what's with all the peeing all of a sudden?

Posted by: Dave Munger at May 5, 2006 3:23 PM

And I say that as a man who was an editor of Penthouse for decades.

Oh, so that's why your name sounded so familiar for some reason. About 15-20 years ago, reading that magazine pretty much laid the basis of my English language skills and knowledge of American culture and events. It's funny how things have turned out since then, in many ways.

I like to think that, over the decades, my work for the magazine has helped many of my brothers overcome various stresses and language difficulties of all sorts. For the editors of Penthouse, it was indeed true that "The pleasure was to serve."

As for Munger's question, that element came from the demented mind of the original owner and went away when, at long last, he went away.

I am told, although I haven't checked, that all that is long gone.

It is probably not in my interests to confess that I can verify Mr. Van der Leun's last sentence. Based on one or two data points.

Posted by: TigerHawk at May 6, 2006 6:14 PM

Er, which data point's TigerHawk?

Malkin would still be a daily ritual for me even if her podcasts were strictly of the MP3 variety.
But I like looking at her too.
