Not that there's anything wrong with either, it's just not what I expected.

Politically, what was Penthouse like? Due to my current living arrangements (Oak Park, Illinois - all Hemingway and stuff) I've got 3 Playboy employees around me. Not like janitors or anything, but actual product type people.

Strangest thing: They're very benign in terms of politics, and in fact, tend to lean conservative on things. They say that's pretty much status quo on Playboy.

On the other hand, I know a few guys who work over at another similarly styled magazine who say it's Moonbat central. In a very political industry, I find it strange that there's variation from publication to publication.

And I say that as a man who was an editor of Penthouse for decades.

Oh, so that's why your name sounded so familiar for some reason. About 15-20 years ago, reading that magazine pretty much laid the basis of my English language skills and knowledge of American culture and events. It's funny how things have turned out since then, in many ways.

I like to think that, over the decades, my work for the magazine has helped many of my brothers overcome various stresses and language difficulties of all sorts. For the editors of Penthouse, it was indeed true that "The pleasure was to serve."

As for Munger's question, that element came from the demented mind of the original owner and went away when, at long last, he went away.

I am told, although I haven't checked, that all that is long gone.

It is probably not in my interests to confess that I can verify Mr. Van der Leun's last sentence. Based on one or two data points.
