All along the Weasel Watchtowers the Watchers of Weasels are always watching the weasels and this week was no different. We let them rip our flesh so they don't rip yours.
Results are in and here's the roster:
In which we discover why "The UK's political structure has failed systemically. Democracy in Britain does not result in a "representative" democracy."
"I resent attitudes and policies that demean blacks by consistently holding them to a lower standard based on the premise that they’re incapable of achieving a higher standard. Color me racist, but I hate to see people classified and graded by race."
"Pumping out more med school graduates or worse, importing physicians from abroad by relaxing training standards, will simply force more primary care physicians into other specialties faster. It will not expand the pool of primary care physicians."
"This great divide began, I believe, with the election of George W. Bush, the hanging chads, lawsuit, and the Left believing that Al Gore was actually the president. We've gone downhill from there."
"The New York Times continues, in ways little and big, to ignore the reality of Islam. It is a case of individual folly and mediocrity – the egregious Tom Friedman comes immediately to mind, and so too does Nicholas Kristof. But then there are the reporters. "
"When you can’t provide the real then promise the fake. The bleaker the reality the more soaring the vision. The higher the price of oil, the smaller the military budget, the costlier the medical appliances the more grandiose the goals of the administration become. Why aim for incremental environmental improvement when you can make the seas fall. Never mind if one must accept a nuclear Iran; at least we’ll have a world without nuclear weapons!"
Where we begin to get into trouble is in failing to recognize the enormous complexity of our history and substituting a "special narrative" that highlights a point of view driven by politics rather than scholarship.
I'm glad The Winds of Jihad won, I liked it best. He's a whipper snapper of first order.
