The only problem is having Iraq sell the U.S. oil at a discount. Sounds good, but the purchasers are actually oil refineries ie private companies. They would benefit not the taxpayer. Of course if it lowered oil prices in general it would be good for everyone.
The big picture is correct. This problem is entirely self inflicted by the mistakes Congress has made by kow towing to the environmentalists. We need to get cracking on producing more supply as soon as possible. No more equivocating!!
