Time for Dictators But No Time for American Generals

"Pleased to meet you. Hope you guess my name."

It has been touch and go all week, but it now seems that Nancy Pelosi is going to wrest the "Americans Are All Losers Tiara" from Harry Reid:Pelosi Won't Attend Petraeus Briefing

Gen. David Petraeus is scheduled to come to the Hill tomorrow to brief lawmakers on the progress of the recent troop escalation.

ABC News has learned, however, that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., will not attend the briefing.

"She can't make the briefing tomorrow," a Democratic aide told ABC News Tuesday evening. "But she spoke with the general via phone today at some length."

A Pelosi aide said the speaker on Tuesday requested a one-on-one meeting with Petraeus but that could not be worked out. He said their phone conversation lasted 30 minutes.

Well, at least she took the call. After all, it would take at least 30 minutes on the phone for Pelosi to come to a deep and profound understanding of the complex state of the Iraq war on the ground as presented by the General she confirmed in his role.

Of course, the deeper message here is that Pelosi is firmly aligned with the DGAS ("Don't Give a Shit") Democrats. But then, you already knew that.

As Pelosi and Reid battle it out in Blatherthon 2007 to see who can get more Americans to accept their permanent status as losers, it is difficult to tell who will be on top tomorrow what with all the position switching done by this dynamic Washington couple. Still, it is entertaining. It's like watch a Hubris Smackdown at the Spiritual Dwarves Heightening Telethon.

Both Pelosi and Reid and their supporters seem to have concluded that American's actually like being framed as "losers." That and the fact that they will forget who framed them as such when the Pelosi's next turn in the barrel comes around. Will they? History will tell.

In November when the Repubs lost a bunch of Congressional seats, I remember various pundits saying "good, a split government will minimize any damage they can do."

Hmmm. From where I sit, the opposite has happened.

I shouldn't say I do not care what other countries day concerning the USA, because I do, but I cannot understand where these members of congress are coming from. They certainly do not represent me nor my concerns about this nation. They should be looking inward and do a little soul searching themselves, in fact it probably wouldn't hurt the entire elected body from doing that. I digress...The damage these Democratic and some Republican senators are doing to this nation is unmeasurable. They are undermining the troops and they are portraying this nation as totally inapt. They are now trying to undermine the entire military establishment. What are they trying to do to this country????
