Spitzer's Wife Silda Joins Democrat Pissed-Off Wives Club, Plans Senate Bid

Dead man walking.

They shouted at him, as the Spitzers split from the press conference, "Governor, will you resign? Will you resign?" Silly journalists. Any sharp pundit would have gotten up in Mrs. Spitzer's face and asked, "Does this mean you are going to run for the U.S. Senate?" I'm looking for Oprah to do that job when she has the Spitzers on to talk about "the healing process."

Damp but sans waterworks:

Mr. Spitzer stood with his arm around his wife; the two nodded and then strode forward together to face more than 100 reporters. Both had glassy, tear-filled eyes, but they did not cry. - Spitzer Is Linked to Prostitution Ring - New York Times

Small is beautiful:

["Client 9"] paid $4,300 in cash to the service, with some being used for the encounter and the rest apparently to be used for credit. When discussing how the payments would be arranged, Client 9 told Lewis: "Yup, same as in the past, no question about it," suggesting it was a routine exchange.

The prostitute, who authorities described as a "petite, pretty brunette, 5-feet-5 inches, and 105 pounds," met the client in Room 871 at about 10 p.m. -- NY governor linked to prostitution ring

Unfortunate turn of the phrase of the day

"Prosecutors say the Emperors Club employed more than 50 high-end prostitutes...."

But maybe not.

From the affadavit: (Client 9) "would ask you to do things that, like, you might not think were safe...."

"And when I get you home, I'm going to knock out
the rest of your teeth."

Reached for comment, Martha Stewart would say only:

But one of her staff confirmed that Ms. Stewart had sent Mrs. Spitzer a sympathy gift:

UPDATE: This just in.

Eliot Spitzer Vows To Crack Down On Excess Prostitute Pay

UPDATE: MARTHA STEWART AND SILDA SPITZER MAKE UP! "Now that he's out of the way we can go back to being the close friends we were in the 90s!" -- Stewart

Friends of Hudson River Park - News & Events - News

The evening of June 14 was one of the most extraordinary in the history of Friends of Hudson River Park. That was the evening of our Annual Gala, but this Annual Gala was unlike any before it. To begin with, it honored two extraordinary New York women – Martha Stewart and Silda Wall Spitzer. Second, it was held in the most spectacular possible venues in the workspace of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia in the art deco Starrett-Lehigh Building.

PLUS: The founding member of the "Democrat Pissed-Off Wives Club lost no time in seeking to make Mrs. Spritzer an ally instead of an adversary: Radar notes "Clinton Campaign Removes Eliot Spitzer's Name From List Of Endorsements "

Hillary Clinton has already delivered the first of many "You're dead to me, Eliot"-moments, sponging her campaign website clean of all mentions of Spitzer's endorsement last May. Spitzer's name was gone from the website less than an hour after the Times story broke—impressive timing when you consider it took Mitt Romney nearly an entire day to decide to throw Larry Craig under a bus last August.

WITH THIS SPECIAL ADDED ATTRACTION! "Now, just imagine what he'll do as your Governor! Spitzer for Governor" (Be sure to wait for the tagline, "Bringing some passion back to Albany!"

I do not understand why wives in this situation stand there next to their stupid husband while he makes his perfunctory apology. She should have told him, "You're on your own, you stupid, slack-jawed mo*%^#@&%&er." This is so tiresome.

Perhaps she's standing there for the shock value of appearing not to abandon the guy, then the surprise filing comes 3 days later?

Maybe she's just shocked, period.

My daughter told me about this fabulous turn of events this afternoon, (in the middle of a lot of snickering over the damage to the Democratic Party et al.) and her question is the one I want answered: at several thousand dollars a pop, so to speak, why didn't this horny sleazedog just set himself up with a steady mistress? Someone with secrets of her own, so she'd keep quiet?

Last but not least, regardless her choices as a wife, I hope for the sake of her daughters that Mrs. Spitzer throws the bum into the street. Any man who'd sneak of to pay a fortune to rumble a girl only a few years older than his own children is unfit to be a father. Ivana Trump had the advice of the day: Don't get mad. Get it all. And get the kids away from the pervert.

Does anyone doubt where Hillary would be today if she had divorced Bill immediately upon learning of his (latest) infidelity with the intern? If, instead of blaming a "vast right wing conspiracy," what if she'd said something to the effect of "...get the hell out of my life; half the assets are mine; don't let the door hit you on the way out"? She wouldn't be where she is today, with 49% unfavorable ratings.

Why shouldn't Democrat women be doormants? Blacks are for the Democrat party. Jews love the the Arafat loving Democrat party. Industrial Union workers love the industry hateing Democrat party. It is a party of,and for losers.

How about John McCain dumping his first wife for the current serpent?

Hillary can do the weeping for the media that the Spitzers couldn't muster-- she got some practice in New Hampshire, after all.

Please. Despite all their posturing Dem women all have Kick Me signs on their backs. This is absolute fact.

Slick Willy kicked Dem women for years and years. He kicked me right out of the party.

What is wrong with these women!? Mrs. Spitzer should immediately take Elliott and the prostitute to the cleaners!

Unsafe sex? Isn't that what the schools are teaching these days? The more, the better. The "healthier".

Drudge has a developing story that 1 out of 4 teenage girls in America today have some form of STD's.

Since I have three daughters, I'd just like to thank those responsible for my added worries.

"And when I get you home, I'm going to knock out
the rest of your teeth." Priceless!! ROFL!!

You go, Silda!

Posted by: Jimmy J. at March 11, 2008 9:18 PM

Actually, if she let's her hips go by adding another 20-30 lbs, then that, plus her husband's recent activities qualifies her to run for President.

One thing people overlook in such cases is the
probable state of the man's sex life at the time.
Although this is my pure speculation, it is quite
likely that Silda is into her menopause and had
been neglecting her husband's "needs". Further,
I speculate that Elliot probably has much above-
average sex drive as in the case with many hyperactive
politician. It's not coincidence that many
historic figures had mistresses.
Anyway, It is quite possible that if Silda had
token Elliot's daily needs more seriously in
recent years, this tragidy could have been avoided.
It is sad. Sad for everyone.

Hey, Spitzer and Obama are democrats; Spitzer and Obama went to Harvard Law. Has Obama ever hired a hooker for his own use?

Posted by: Mary at March 13, 2008 1:34 PM

I seriously doubt there is anything wrong with Silda's sex drive. Something tells me she is the type of women to have all aspects of her life covered!!! She will decide whether to leave or not. But if she does there will be many men knocking at her door. Eliot should not have taken a chance on losing her!!!!!

I'm a democrat & I was "Spitzered" last year. 20 years of marriage, 4 kids - two recently adopted! My republican friends wanted me to stay with him but I'm no fool. I'm getting every penny I can get and moving on with my life! And I'll tell anyone about it who's willing to listen.. there's no way I'm going to let people blame me in any part for his horrible behavior.

Posted by: Jane at March 16, 2008 7:05 AM

All we can do is theorize. We have no idea what their family life was really like. Maybe the reason Hillary and Silda have stuck by their men, is because they had agreements about this kind of thing, and rather than worrying about them having affairs, they are more upset about their stupidity in getting caught.

Posted by: 3fates at March 18, 2008 12:24 PM

Never blame the wife, Fritz. This man was behaving the way he had been for 10 yers, long before your notion that menopause could have made him do it. No chauvenistic remarks apply here. She's a beautiful, accomplished woman. Even if she wasn't "instantly available" to her husband, that is no explanation for Eliot's behavior.
