I'm expecting to see a lime green sky with flying pigs after AGREEING with Andrew Sullivan in re Mozilla. I almost pity those cloistered fools; in San Francisco the gay bullies probably looked unstoppable and inevitable. Now Ms. Baker is going to have to put up or shut up about "diversity" and "tolerance", or see her company uninstalled into oblivion by us gun-toting bitter clingers.

You people disgust me.

Everybody please boycott and ban Geo Michalopulos for stating his opinion. He is not allowed to have an opinion unless it agrees with us.

I believe she is Mitchell Baker (not Burke)

Posted by: Kamil Rumi at April 6, 2014 5:25 AM

Why do we disgust you, Geo? We are truly liberal and you, sadly, are not.

I worked for a Fortune 10 manufacturing corp in the late 90s. Our CEO at the time instituted full benefits for domestic partners, even though he personally found homosexuality immoral. I heard him speak about this at a retreat once. He said that this had been difficult for him. Born in the early '40s and raised as a Catholic it took him a long time to understand this issue. Ultimately, however, he said that he did not want to run an organization in which any employee existed who didn't feel comfortable putting a photo of his/her significant other on the desk for all to see. And he would not tolerate any employees who failed to separate their personal views from what was necessary to create an inclusive professional environment where such issues are irrelevant.

This was nearly 20 years ago, mind you, in an industry known for conservative norms. The CEO was mature and liberal (though he was politically conservative) enough to live with the discomfort of his own personal opposition to same-sex intimate relationships while simultaneously running an organization that made it clear that such relationships were welcomed among staff.

This is what people like you, Geo, apparently don't understand. It is possible to separate personal preferences from corporate policies. It is possible to tolerate that which you find intolerable within a system that protects the rights of individuals to argue persuasively for and against laws and norms. It is not only possible; it is imperative in a liberal society.

This, Geo, is why illiberal people (or just one-dimensional simpletons) like YOU disgust ME. And why, after nearly nine years of using Firefox, I took it off my machines late this week. Permanently.

I'm a staunch advocate of same-sex marriage, BTW, and have been since I was a teenager in the early '80s.

Please emigrate and join a medieval society (or the Taliban) where you'll feel right at home stoning the unbelievers.

Geo Michalopulos must be publicly shunned and preferably fired from his job because he disagrees with the postings on this site. Let the Internet record this action for posterity that anyone who interacts with Geo Michalopulos be publicly shunned.

You know who should be fired? Mitchell Baker, the Mozilla board chairman.

Behold the face of evil, incarnate.

Posted by: Paul A'Barge at April 6, 2014 7:47 AM

Appropriately, "Mozilla" sounds like a portmanteau of 'mo and Godzilla, i.e., of homosexual and the King of Monsters.

No doubt inspired by Rosie O'Donnell.

@ Paul: Behold the face of evil, incarnate.
****************
That's a man, baby.

Posted by: Richard at April 6, 2014 9:11 AM

Gagdad Bob sez: "Appropriately, "Mozilla" sounds like a portmanteau of 'mo and Godzilla"

Actually, it's a portmanteau of "Godzilla" and the name of the first ever graphical web browser, NCSA Mosaic.

Posted by: Kenneth Mitchell at April 6, 2014 9:30 AM

If that's true, why was one of the rejected names Queenkong?

Posted by: Gagdad Bob at April 6, 2014 10:17 AM

I do not care what your sexual preference is, but I do care very much if you use strong arm tactics to impede other people from having a different set of thoughts. Purged FF from all my devices and will never come back.

Has anybody been less self-aware than our friends at Mozilla?

Posted by: Blue Bill at April 6, 2014 10:32 AM

Spineless and short sighted actions such as Mozilla has taken are almost guaranteed to come back and bite the perpetrators. For them to cave in to OKCupid was exactly the wrong thing to do. The whole Mozilla board needs to resign in shame, and take their CEO out with them. Once they find a board that believes in allowing employees to have personal lives and opinions that are different from their own, they might become a viable company again. For now, they look to have committed deliberate suicide.

Posted by: Grey at April 6, 2014 11:11 AM

I had a Facebook fight with a friend over this. I posted a link to the story. And he proceeded to lecture me on why it was okay to fire Eich. I asked if it would be okay to fire a pro-gay marriage employee for their beliefs. After asking me if I supported white supremists, I got him to answer my question. It came down to firing someone opposed to gay marriage is okay. Firing someone pro-gay marriage is wrong because that would be oppression. It's very difficult to deal with someone who reasons that way.

Posted by: Teri Pittman at April 6, 2014 11:16 AM

I was one of the earliest Firefox users. Notice this is posted on Chrome. I HATE Google, but until I can figure out Safari, or Opera, or something else, it'll have to do, 'cause Firefox/Mozilla has allowed the gay mafia to stifle one voice too many.

Posted by: Bart Flossom at April 6, 2014 11:19 AM

@Bart Flossom

Try Palemoon. It's based on Firefox and is functionally identical, but it has no affiliation with Mozilla. Very easy to migrate FF profile via a third-party app that Palemoon directs you to.

Posted by: Tyrone Slothrop at April 6, 2014 11:48 AM

I'm dumping Firefox right now and am adding three new browsers to experiment with:
Maxathon,
Opera,
and Commodo Dragon
Don't know which one I'll keep and use, but I've read good reviews on all of them.
Go to File-Hippo.com to check them out.

Posted by: Grace_ia at April 6, 2014 11:56 AM

After years of using Mozilla, I WILL PURGE it from my computer in SEVEN days, IF the OBAMABOT IDIOTS who FORCED the resignation of your CEO is not FIRED and the CEO brought back!!!!!!! I am OUTRAGED by this MORONIC decision and WILL NOT support in ANY way an organization who has such IMBECILES running it!!!!!!!!
The ball is in YOUR court,, SEVEN DAYS!!!!!!!

Posted by: eugene at April 6, 2014 12:55 PM

Eugene, What? After hitting post five times you gave up?

On the subject at hand, Google is worse than Mozilla in regards to PC behaviour and always has been.
Unless Sara Palin starts coding a new browser I'm afraid the search for a Constitutionally Correct browser is a waste. But perhaps in the fullness of time Mozilla will come to realize that as over 95% of their users are straight, so are their donors. As I was, or am. ??? OK, was a donor but not now, was straight and still am. Or would be if I could get a date.
Never mind.

Hey thanks for the info.
Darn mozilla's main office is from California, state where I live. Sheesh. California you are getting a bad name (well even more so.) Believe it or not there are many Christian's here and some good churches. Some churches are flat smack in the middle of Hollywood & LA too. But you will never hear about those. Good luck all, fighting the good fight.
thanks Gerard

Posted by: Arlene at April 6, 2014 3:56 PM

So, Mozilla will get around to purging the rest of their ranks on Monday, I hope, and will lead the charge through the rest of Silicon Valley, using donor records to guarantee the purity of the volk?

It's always good for the less attentive to see where the lines are drawn.

Posted by: TmjUtah at April 6, 2014 10:00 PM

This makes the case against a different tax status for 'righteous' corporations (as opposed to for profit ones) about as well as it can be made. When you're in it for the morality, there's going to be a lot of this rubbish.

It also suggests that Americans are a lot dumber than when I was a kid. A corporation whose only products are software isn't smart enough at the top to see that one kind of bigotry isn't any better than another?

The business of business is business. How does anyone get to the top without figuring that out?

Thanks to those who have posted FF alternatives. I THOUGHT I had just finished a several month Quest for a combination of software and hardware that would do what I need with minimum difficulty but if this foolishness isn't reversed in a few days I'll saddle up again.

Posted by: Paul A'Barge at April 7, 2014 8:53 AM

Mozilla was bullied and was weak so everyone is out to destroy them, but why are we giving the bullies a free ride? OKCupid and the gay mafia are not weak, they are evil. I support getting government out of all social issues and the same for all bullies whatever side they are on.

From Italy I write my disapproval of your business decisions. From the start I have sang your praises and led many Italians to use your search engine and now I am doing an about-face. It is unconscionable that one's thoughts are punished in such a way.
Goodbye Mozilla... how sad...

Posted by: Rebeca Molins at April 7, 2014 9:32 AM

I just uninstalled Firefox. Used Mozilla for 16 years now or more.
I'm using Opera now. Switching to Chrome is pointless, as is IE. Google and Bill Gates are far worse then Mozilla. So you may as well get rid of Windows while you are at it and switch to Linux. Both Google and Microsoft are major financiers of modern day fascism.
The LBGT community should realize that they are being used as a spearhead for Marxism, similar to Ernst Julius Rohm and his SA Brown Shirts, who where almost all homosexuals. Despite the left's constant attempts to rewrite history, those that know history, remember that Hitler rose to power on a National Socialism and workers rights platform. Fascism always comes from the left. Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, Ho Chi Min, Pol Pot, and Castro all came to power with a socialist agenda.

Posted by: Nicholi at April 7, 2014 9:35 AM

Been using Mozilla products since it was Netscape.

NO MORE! I will not use, specify, recommend to anyone that they use Mozilla products, since it is clearly an cesspool of hate and intolerance.

Migrating all of the companies I support OFF of Mozilla products beginning today! It's just business -- my clients do not want to be associated with bigotry in any form.

It's coming down to the clash of truth. You CANNOT be "personally opposed" to objective evil i.e. sodomy and still get along with the messed up people in this world. People who practice and promote sodomy are promoting an intrinsic evil...they are not "couples" or "significant others" or "partners"...they are acting out sexually with another person in a perverse and destructive manner. How many more millions will have to die b/c of homosex? Love is not an emotion or any attraction you happen to feel. Love is found in the human will...it is a "willing the good" for the other...and there is nothing good about sodomy...lube, blood, feces, and semen...30% either dead or HIV positive by age 30 if they begin acting out at 18...psychological disorders specifically personality, depressive and anxiety...suicidal ideation and substance abuse...domestic violence and relationship instability...AIDS, HIV, Hep C and countless other physical diseases...the men's colons end up falling out! Wake up America and the world...Hollywood and the media have spun, lied and deceived you into thinking mutual, mastabatory, sterile sex is somehow good and wholesome...that perversion is normal...that love is whatever or whoever you want. This is insanity and will destroy us. Seek truth...objective truth. Natural Law, 6500 years, logic, reason and reality scream that sodomy is unnatural, perverse and destructive. Use your brains, your frontal lobes, and stop being led by emo. Go to the CDC and see the numbers of the out of control nature of male homosex...it is sexual and emotional addiction. People with same sex attraction need healing and help...not an invitation to destruction. Disordered sexual attractions aren't our "identity"...if that were true, no normal male would ever be able to remain faithful to his wife...pedophiles would be set free...adultery would be no problem. We have to bring all attractions to the light of reason and truth to see if they are GOOD before we act on them. If you love someone, you will speak the truth to them in kindness...and the truth is that homosexual behavior is a destructive lie...and that it brings death in many forms. God bless~

As Thomas More says in A Man For All Seasons, "...when statesmen forsake their own private conscience for the sake of their public duties...they lead their country by a short route to chaos."

There is no such thing as "personally opposed" yet schizophrenically doing the opposite in public. It's either cowardice or a lack of integrity. Let your yes mean yes and your no mean no. Toleration of grave evil is an evil in itself. It was a common phrase during the slavery era that people were "personally opposed" to slavery but gave the plantation owners their personal choice in keeping slaves and supported government policy to keep slavery legal. Evil is evil is evil is evil. No amount of word gymnastics can change the truth that sodomy is evil. Call them "partners, spouses, wives, husbands, significant others"...but in the end it's just someone you are acting out with in perverse sexuality that will destroy you, them and others. Love protects. Love resides in objective truth. Love rejoices in the truth and not in wrongdoing. Being "ok" with the promotion of sodomy whether it's "benefits" or "marriage" or talking to people who promote and act out like it's no big deal is not love. As the Black Eyed Peas sing "if you've never known truth you've never known love." Or as Jimmy Evans says "Anyone who pats you on the back on your way to destruction doesn't love you." It's time to call objective, universal evil out and stop hiding behind personal vs public...you don't stop being you in either situation. God bless~

Trying Out Pale Moon

I have a very large collection of tagged, annotated bookmarks that I had previously collected using the now morally obsolete Mozilla Firefox browser. My website/blog is based on this bookmarks set. Pale Moon's import tool sucked them right in. My Xmarks synchronization appears to be completely unfazed by the change in browsers (really hoping the "places" Sqlite schema is same). So far so good.

First they came for the Proposition 8 proponents, but we said something.

Uninstalled all Mozilla-related software. Will NEVER use anything by this company again.

Cannot deal with hypocrites who place the wants of the few above the rights of the many. Freedom of choice means just that - freedom.

I hope your company suffers a sad, pathetic, lonely, painful death...
