Economic Struggles of the Candidate Class

Democratic Sen. Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle, made $4.2 million last year as widespread interest in the presidential candidate pushed the sales of his two books.

By comparison, Clinton and her husband, the former president, reported $20.4 million in income for 2007. Almost half the former first couple's money came from Bill Clinton's speeches. -- Obama reports income of $4.2 million in 2007 tax returns - Yahoo! News

Ah, America, where any clever elitist man from a serial single-parent household, or obsessed elitist woman married to a serial philandering ex-President, can grow up to run for President and in the process become a multi-millionaire -- win, lose, or draw.

Are you not stating the obvious?

Surely you don't mean to say the Clintons and Obama are the only well-to-do, elitist candidates in the glorious past of presidential campaigns.
