Now I might say that Mrs. Obama is consciously echoing Marx in her pie remark, but I honestly don't think she has the intellectual stamina to read Marx. Instead, an old Joe Hill protest song seems about her speed.

How in the hell would you know what her intelligence is like? You're part of the problem with our culture, flippant and snarky, more concerned about making a clever insult than actually trying to understand or be fair to a person.
It seems to me she's sayin a very logical and adult thing - that someone will give up something so that everyone can have a little bit. Was it the realistic stance she was taking that bothered you so?
Now, there is reason not to favor such a philosophy and it's completely legitimate argument to make. I don't agree with michelle on this, BTW.
But at least she's not promising the Sky without admitting it has to be PAID for...that someone will have to give up something. UNlike the Republicans who seem to have defined themselves by passing on the costs/debt for everything down the road.
It's people like you who've got us in this polarized black/white good/evil world where nuance and grey areas are for eggheads and sissies.
You are helping Dumb-down America. You are encouraging the 'something for nothing" attitude of our popular culture.

Marxism has been thoroughly discredited throughout the world. It has been a failure everywhere it's tried and if people heard more often about the 20/50/80/100+ million people EXECUTED around the world by the governments based on Marxism, it would be as derided as Fascism.
To recap, Marxism/Socialism/Communism = BAD. Black and white, no gray area there unless you think, "Hey, those people were worthless and we're better off without the unenlightened anyway, and we could do better without several million Americans. At least we'll have free healthcare."
