The Obama Presidency So Far

Well, at least he's getting out of the White House and back on the campaign trail. Why be chained to a desk when you can be adrift on a wreck?

So what painting is this? I've might have seen it once, decades ago. If I remember right, there was demand for a sequel painting, with the sailor rescued, which the artist eventually painted. Or was that some other story?

The painting is Winslow Homer's The Gulf Stream

The sick thing is that this President really seems to be enjoying the voyage.

Obama isn't wise enough yet to really grasp the perfect storm bearing down on all of us now. But he will.

Still, aren't Homer's watercolors of the Caribbean simply wonderful? I remember going all the way to New Haven once just to see one of his watercolor only shows.

A tale told by idiots, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

A painting of that would be more apt.

Webutante, with an IQ of 127 you'd think he'd be a little wiser. I guess if you think to measure something is to understand it you'd see what it is like to be in his mind. I don't think he'll ever be wise. The prerequisite for that is to have a value system based on "something" transcendental. He clearly is the paragon of solipsism, which equals nihilism. We will see only emptiness from him. No redemption. No deliverance. No grace at all.

What makes you think he isn't doing these things deliberately?

I think he may well be doing all this in a deliberate manner, but he can still reap the whirlwind. In fact, I think that such a result is more probable than not.

I don't see the peril.

The sharks are the MSM. When his bark flips - they'll escort him ashore.

He might be a little bloodied, but they aren't going to let him sink.

No. They'll get under him and maintain the illusion that he's still walking on water.

I agree that he (they) may well be doing this deliberately. When I saw the picture my first thought was that it was my (our) liberty in the boat surrounded by those that who want to take it away. There is little that can be done at this point. Now I know how those who believed in the country and in liberty pre Civil War felt, knowing, and dreading what was to come.

I have Winslow Homer's Breezing Up in my Living Room.
