The Brutal Dilemma: Christopher Taylor on Why Cutting the Budget Means Cutting the President's Base

belephantattack.jpg

In Word Around the Net: A BLACK FUTURE, essayist Taylor points out the obvious elephant in the room:

Blacks are disproportionately represented in government jobs. In fact, hiring blacks in federal jobs is so out of norm with the general population that NASA has the smallest over representation by only hiring 49% more blacks than are in the general population. Blacks make up about 10% of the United States population, but make up about 20% of the federal government jobs according to a 2010 study by the Office of Personnel Management. .... So we're faced with a brutal dilemma: in order to lighten the pressure of the federal government on the economy and businesses so both can breathe and prosper, we're going to have to slash the government down in size which will result in many people losing jobs in a time of dire unemployment. And many of those lost jobs will be black jobs.

His conclusion? Try cutting into this constituency and "America will burn."

But would it? I tend to agree with him that the make-up of the rising black middle class is such that no cuts of any significance in the government work force can be forthcoming. I also tend to agree with him that the risk of widespread rioting is real. But I also think that, well, maybe not. I've lived through and clearly remember the Watts Riots, the riots of the Long Hot Summer of 1967, the Miami Riots of 1980, the highly lethal LA 1992 riots. I don't think that that is the current mood of the country regardless of how much doom-saying is being bandied about.

Riots over job reductions? Maybe we have grown beyond that. Maybe the only thing that will spark riots is the chopping off of federal funds to the left-behinds in the armed welfare hamlets of the inner cities. And even then it would probably take a provocateur's spark.

What do you think? In the face of obvious financial disaster, should we take such dire warnings at face value, or should we say, "Go ahead. Make my day."

Mr V

It will be worse that prior conflagrations. I saw Hough {Cleveland} and Detroit when I was a youth.

The current Usurper-in-Chief has already alerted us thru proxy Holder that all Black Crime is Kool. You haven't forgotten the "stupidly..." reacting police who busted his good buddy Chip in Cambridge ? ... the Beer SummitSham ? ...

Their inattention to Adjective-Deleted FlashMobThugdom is another unequivocal indicator

The rot is now systemic, and our national leadership is racist, corrupt, and dedicated to dissolution of Lawful Culture. Summer's not over. Pick a major metro center. Any.

Think. Again.

Are we so sure there is actually going to be a choice? Unless we devolve to the old Soviet definition--we pretend to work, they pretend to pay us.

This bad trip is finally coming undone. Let the users and takers take a turn being afraid, because that is a healthy fear that has plainly been missing. I think they will behave better than you expect because, at some level, most people know the truth.

Heh. Make my day. It cannot hurt that the looters would be decimated by the productive.

Posted by: Robohobo at August 19, 2011 9:35 PM

I say, Do It. I am tired of being held hostage by guilt that is not my own. I am tired of pulling more than my fair share. If they want to burn their own homes, their own neighborhoods, their own businesses, so be it. The world can see the ugly racism that is so systemic in Black culture. Then put the rioters in jail. Build new ones if necessary. If Western Men fail to stand for Law and Order, for Freedom and Liberty, then we deserve to fail. Fire purifies.

Do it..

Then put the rioters in jail. Build new ones if necessary.
Why? Why waste the money and the energy on that construction. Let them stand in the ashes of their destruction. No rebuilding except by their own sweat equity.

As for the *flash* mobs and such, they're declaring war on civilization. No different from the Picts or the Vandals sacking villages. Catch them in the act, heads on pikes.

Civilized interaction via the courts requires an agreement to the law and rule of law.
We've moved beyond that. Just listen to the Chief Circumventer via Fiat Issuer. Or "Fast and Furious" gun sales.

Lived in Turkey and saw rioting mobs of youth who had no agenda, encouraged by folks with their own agenda - at one point, after burning US, German and UK flags, the rioting morons burned their own flag.

I was 17 and thought it was a hoot.
Go ahead and riot - the neighborhood you destroy will be your own. Then try to sleep on ashes.

You still won't have jobs as long as the Dem machine is in charge.

Go ahead, make my day.

Riot season ends in mid-September. That's when it starts getting chilly at night and reminds the rioters that winter's not far off.

During the Second Battle of Trenton (April 4-7, 1968), the Jersey Guard was not allowed to carry ammunition because the civil authorities decided that would be "provocative." Trenton burned for two days, as snipers shot firemen responding to multiple arson sites. On the third day, an M-48A3 tank appeared in the streets, and after three snipers' nests were taken out with .50 caliber machinegun fire, the firefighters were never shot at again and looting dropped to a few isolated incidents.

Nobody ever admitted taking that tank from the motor pool of the Lawrenceville armory and driving it into town...

Posted by: BillT at August 20, 2011 7:09 AM

That story about Trenton is bullshit. There were no tanks deployed to Trenton in 1968 for the MLK riots. In fact, there were no Guardsmen deployed to Trenton for those riots.

It was actually all taken care of by local police, and some state troopers, and the sheriff's department.

A single black rioter was killed by police.

A sheriff's deputy with a personally owned Browning Automatic Rifle shot up a rooftop that some rioters had been throwing bricks from.

I lived just north of Trenton for 10 years, and know people who have lived in Trenton all their lives, and were there during the riots, including a couple of cops and a fireman. The BAR they remember. No Tanks. And a National Guard Captain friend of mine laughed when I told him this story.

You just don't take a tank and drive it someplace. Even in 1968. Certainly not now.

There will be no real riots. Mostly because the riots won't be over race, (at least in this country). I've seen black cops in Philly beating the crap out of black kids putting down the flash mobs.

There's your difference from 1968. Blacks are part of the power structures now. Especially in big cities.

We always seem to be fighting the last war, don't we. I don't know what's coming. I do see the brazen, open racism experienced by my children on their school buses over the years, and the unreality of the school's attempt at teaching tolerance by making the white kids feel guilty for crimes they were never around for - crimes I was not around for, nor my parents. They shrug off the generational guilt trip and just move on.

Will there be widespread riots? Maybe, but the better people are all leaving the urban wastelands, anyway. We will find a way of surviving when the government runs out of other people's money.

It's the white folks rioting you have to worry about.

Posted by: Jewel at August 20, 2011 11:29 AM

Whitey ain't gonna riot. Whitey's gonna revolt.
There is a world of difference.

Posted by: Peccable at August 20, 2011 2:02 PM

Put a black in charge of hiring and they hire more blacks, if they are qualified or not. Happens in the private sector as well.

Posted by: BradnSA at August 20, 2011 6:56 PM

Yep, bring it already. My reservoir of white guilt is all tapped out.

Posted by: rickl at August 20, 2011 9:24 PM

"That story about Trenton is bullshit...there were no Guardsmen deployed to Trenton for those riots."

Stop in at the Militia Museum in the old armory and ask Jon to see the pictures in the file cabinet, Eric. Tell him Bill said you're okay.

These stats would have saved us years of scratching our heads! This explains everything.

Posted by: RedCarolina at August 21, 2011 7:04 AM

Correction: this would have saved us years of banging our heads against the wall..

This explains why the race card is so vital, of course. But also why public unions are sacred.

Good God.

Posted by: RedCarolina at August 21, 2011 7:12 AM

Also explains why they are tossing around the "racist" label with reckless abandon.. even my very young kids were called racists during the 08 elections.. by other very young kids. This is more dangerous than flash mobs, Friends. In fact, flash mobs are just a symptom...

We have corrupted our culture and made our public school system a farce. We have a permanent entitlement class steeped in violence and instant gratification.
What happens when the checks stop coming for the entitled class AND the government class? What happens when an entire nation's currency collapses along with the J.I.T supply system?
Hunger.
When hunger shows up, it will bring Mr. Ugly with it and all bets are off. Then you will see what happens to a people who have no center because it was socially engineered away.

Unless this country, and I'm saying we the people take our collective heads out of the sand right quick and have the courage and vision to elect and fight for our Liberty and self determination, if 2012 is not a repeat of 2008, I believe we will end up having to do the hard thing whether we want to or not.
It is time to Pull the Plug.
As nasty and ugly and brutal as it could be, it is far past time to do whats right. The politically correct avenue of entitlement and government free shit is an epic fail on an order of magnitude.
Truth is, without leadership that leads us out of the potential disaster we are facing, we are all like the pig. Every man jack and woman in this nation is involved, committed, whether we want to be or not.
That's the cold hard facts jack.
And I for one am sick to death of the enforced honor of paying for it.
This tyranny, one way or another, is going to end.

Posted by: Mt Top patriot at August 22, 2011 7:25 AM

There is only one long term answer when faced with extortion, and it is the opposite of "Pay up".

Seriously - if you want to make sure every entitlement ends up on the chopping block, then riot over some cut-backs. I don't think the mood is one for over-generosity.

Posted by: Mikey NTH at August 22, 2011 10:05 AM

Entitlements for the poor are Danegeld. Paying off the barbarians to keep them from getting violent.

No, I'm not saying that all poor people are barbarians, but the fact of the matter is that many of them are.

Time to stop paying it. Time to stop subsidizing the underclass, and time to stop paying low-IQ people to reproduce. (In what universe was that ever a good idea?)

the problem you all have is u don't want see a black man with anything of substance including your white women but they must see u don't. It is a good thing that real Americans don't think like u all
