Something Wonderful: American Pie -- The Way It Is In Grand Rapids

GRAND RAPIDS HAS GOT THE GROOVE! Is this a great country, or what?

"The Grand Rapids LipDub Video was filmed May 22nd, with 5,000 people, and involved a major shutdown of downtown Grand Rapids, which was filled with marching bands, parades, weddings, motorcades, bridges on fire, and helicopter take offs. It is the largest and longest LipDub video, to date.

This video was created as an official response to the Newsweek article** calling Grand Rapids a "dying city." We disagreed strongly, and wanted to create a video that encompasses the passion and energy we all feel is growing exponentially, in this great city. We felt Don McLean's "American Pie," a song about death, was in the end, triumphant and filled to the brim with life and hope." - Rob Bliss, Director & Executive Producer

*Note: The "NEW WORLD RECORD" designation refers to size and scope, not duration. Storyboards and concept art by Greg Oberle.

[** PS: Aside to Newsweek and that crone Trina Brown, shut up and sit down, you sluggish bunch of hasbeens, crones, traitors, and useless clones -- ed]

Whatever the problems are in Grand Rapids, they have the right attitude. I thought it you added a nice touch by reminding the harridans and scolds at Newsweak that they epitomize all that is wrong with the press and why it is dying.

This video also reminds me of the Israeli students at Hebrew U. lipdubbing Queen's "Find me somebody to love".

I marvel that being - once again - the world's favorite whipping boy and being surrounded by enemies on every side, these young people find joy in life and in music. You would never see anything like this in the Muslim world.

Newsweek claims that Grand Rapids is dying.
Newsweek also projects more than Bell&Howell.

Beautiful! Bravo Grand Rapids!

GR is a fine city full of truly good people. I used to go there every year on business and I miss it. There's just no jobs. That's it. That's the problem. Put a steel mill or a rocket engine plant there and problem solved.

But that's everywhere.

I LOVE the human spirit!!! We are all in this together and these people are showing that there is always a light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you people of Grand Rapids for being one of those lights.

This country is God's gift to us all. So wonderful to hear and see it.

What a wonderful, uplifting effort on the part of all who got together for this "lib-dub". The energy projected by the people showed their love for their hometown. It made me a tad envious and almost wished I lived there too!! I was there visiting many years ago, and looks like she's held up well.

At least they are familiar with the streets where they will be once again when reality sets in.Lets pretend all is well and the problems will go away.
