A brave man defending his pension. That's who that is.
Cover me, I'm going to look at that monument when nobody's watching.
Pretty damn iconic.
Guards for the Lincoln Monument but no guards for Benghazi.
More like Obamanation!
So what other open-air, walk-access monuments are closed? I saw the picture of the WWI memorial blockade (one fence section with a sign). How about the Vietnam and Korean War memorials. Are they ribboned off? How about the monument to MLK?
But did they have guards watching the memorial several weeks ago when some vandal attacked it with spray paint? No, of course not.
I put this photo up as a comment on facebook last night, and by this morning, facebook had taken it down. Brave new world.
One sad thing is, this guy is just a working schmo drawing a paycheck. He might not know why he is guarding the thing or if he knows he doesn't care. He is just following orders, Nuremburg-style. It is troops like this that will come for us.
That may no longer be so, chasmatic. I doubt there is a park ranger left who is not at heart a petty bureaucrat. They know what team they are playing for.
