New Motto for the United States of America

USA: Our Worst Critics Prefer to Stay

According to readers of Freakonomics

Update: Reader (and writer) Morgan Freeberg suggests an even shorter motto should we ever feel we need to advertise for more immigrants:

USA: Our Poor People Are Fat

Wasn't it one of the Baldwin brothers who swore he'd move out of the country if Bush got re-elected? I think it was the one who REALLY appears to be a prima donna. I picture him one day being a "human shield" outside some nuclear research plant 100 miles from Tehran in 130 degree heat.

I like the way Kim Jong Il pronounces it best in Team America while describing his new "secret weapon":

Our worst critics feel this country's government is oppressive and the economic system is corrupt. Surely these critics realize that there are many foreigners risking their lives to come here. Seems they just can't wait to experience all our oppression and corruption.

I have a suggestion. The worst critics can immigate to less oppressive, corrupt countries and make room for legal immigrants that seem to adore American oppression and corruption. Yep, that's it. An outmigration plan to make room for willing legal immigrants.

If they run a contest for five words later on, I nominate the following:

OUR POOR PEOPLE ARE FAT.

Dinesh D'Souza relates this in one of his books where one of his friends from India expresses the desire to emigrate to America and describes America with that precise observation.
