"They're reminding me to speak in English because right now I'm having problems with that."
I think it's safe to say she won't be going back to Europe any time soon no matter how "sophisticated" and "stylish" those French and Italians are.

Posted by: Jewel at October 4, 2011 8:11 PMWhat if she did the deed? Just sayin'
Posted by: bill at October 4, 2011 8:25 PMPretty clear she did not.
Posted by: vanderleun at October 4, 2011 8:42 PMOf course, she's innocent...look how cute and upper-middle class she is.
Posted by: Mumblix Grumph at October 4, 2011 9:45 PMYou should read Wretchard's column "Femme Fatale", Mumblix, because he talks about the whole pretty girl thing.
Posted by: Jewel at October 5, 2011 1:04 AMFemme Fatale? Hardly. She is a cute girl, but she is just that, not a worldly woman, much less one who could drive a man mad.
Posted by: Fat Man at October 5, 2011 7:01 AMShe doesn't strike me as a "Kitten With a Whip." Now, Ann Margaret - yep!
It's pretty obvious that four years in the slammer has had quite an impact on her. Doubt that she will even break a speed limit for some time, if ever.
Posted by: Jimmy J. at October 5, 2011 8:39 AMYea why would we think a black guy who burgled the place would have murdered the only person there and maybe raped her while he was at it when we have a middle class white girl we can build a box around cause no one likes American White folk in Italy. It is not like black folk are 6 times more likely to commit murder....err hmm well ok.
Exactly so.
Posted by: vanderleun at October 5, 2011 10:10 AMRemember, Italy was going to try Oriana Fallaci for hate crimes against the meek and highly productive Muslim population. Alas, she slipped the surly bonds and now, happily, the Italians are being swamped by water rats from North Africa. It's just a matter of time they cede Lampedusa to Tunisia.
Posted by: Jewel at October 5, 2011 10:17 AMThis has been a farcical exhibition of Italian injustice from beginning to end. Thank God she got a judge and jury on appeal who actually looked at the evidence. The spectacle had all the seemliness of the shooting of the "deserters" in A Farewell to Arms.
Posted by: Casca at October 5, 2011 11:24 AMWhat is outrageous is a totally innocent person had years of her life stripped away by idiots and there is no recourse. Outrageous...absolutely. If I were her father I would find a way to make those bastards pay with their lives. It would be the happiest 30 grand I spent, to have some North African take the prosecutor for a little hayride then...
Posted by: JohnAdams at October 5, 2011 1:28 PMThat would be the Italian way, JohnAdams.
