"It’s all going to pot Whether we like it or not As far as I can tell The world’s gone to hell And we’re sure gonna miss it a lot"

Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard: Still standing after all these years.

It’s all going to pot
Whether we like it or not
As far as I can tell
The world’s gone to hell
And we’re sure gonna miss it a lot

All the whiskey in Lynchburg, Tennessee
Just doesn’t hit the spot
I gotta hundred dollar bill
You can keep your pills, friend
Cause it’s all going to pot

That cackle-bobble-head-in-a-box
Must think I'm dumb as a rock
Readin' the daily news
While I'm kickin' off my shoes
It's scarin' me outta my socks

The Red Headed Stranger I'm not
But buddy, let me tell you what
Ask ol' Will, he'll tell ya here's the deal
Friends, it's all goin' to pot

Well, it’s all going to pot
Whether we like it or not
Best I can tell
The world’s gone to hell
And we’re all gonna miss it a lot

All the whiskey in Lynchburg, Tennessee
Just doesn’t hit the spot
I gotta hundred dollar bill
You can keep your pills, friend
Cause it’s all goin' to pot

Well I thought I had found me a girl
Sweetest little thing in the world
But all my jokes went up in smoke
When I caught her makin eyes at Merle

He said, sweet little honey
With her eye on your money
She's gonna take every penny you got
I said she's never gonna get it
Cause I've already spent it
Merle, It's all goin' to pot

It’s all going to pot
Whether we like it or not
Best I can tell
The world’s gone to hell
And we’re all gonna miss it a lot

All the whiskey in Lynchburg, Tennessee
Just doesn’t hit the spot
I gotta hundred dollar bill
You can keep your pills, friend
Cause it’s all going to pot
I gotta hundred dollar bill
You can keep your pills, friend
Cause it’s all goin' to pot

Yep. Its coming. Too many are vested in its demise (Social Security, Medicare/Medicaid, Unemployment, FoodStamps, etc) and cannot not force themselves away from the hog-trough-trap.

Let's hope the two old reprobates don't blast themselves to death just yet. They continue to the best of the Country 'band of brothers' and I'll miss 'em when they go.

Thanks Gerard, I needed a lift.

Well, if there was ever an argument against pot, you just posted the video of it.

My esteem for Willie Nelson plummeted to zero in 2003 when he sent a case of whiskey to each of the eleven Texas Senate Democrats who fled the state (to Oklahoma and New Mexico) for 46 days to break a quorum on a special session on redistricting, called by Gov. Rick Perry. The Texas Eleven have been dropped down the memory hole, but at the time Nelson thought their legislative tactic was just dandy. (Bunny Trail: One of those Democrat Senators was Leticia Van de Putte of San Antonio, who ran for Lt. Governor (with Wendy Davis). Now Van de Putte is running for Mayor of San Antonio, and her Wikipedia page makes no mention of the Texas Eleven. But I remember.)

Fontessa - I never had enough esteem for Nelson that it could have plummeted. Merle was OK young and fresh out of prison, but he really faded over the years.
