There's nothing to add to the universal amazement and gratitude regarding this moment except the subject line of a recent email:
"Yet again God speaks to the deaf......"
The expertise, courage, judgement and sheer chutzpah of this amazing happening and the response to it will do far more for the reputation of America around the globe than the protracted razmataz that is already underway and will engulf the globe on Tuesday. The first an example of individual human ingenuity backed by a well trained cabin crew - underwritten by divine Providence; the second an example of mass hysteria and electoral lunacy backed the Devil's work. There is self-evidently room for both in our unfathomable Universe; perhaps we would be bored into extinction without these paradoxical extremes?
Posted by: Frank P at January 18, 2009 7:52 AMFrank is on to something here, but our ability to generate and then deal with these two extremes is not a random chance keeping us from death by boredom. No, this yin and yang of events is a gift of our creator, a corollary to the free will necessary for salvation . For if we are to be capable of flight with the agels, we must also be able to wallow endlessly in the pits of sin.
Some choose the wrong paths and drag unwitting bystanders to wrath and ruin with them. Some allow default to funnel them heedlessly into ever-deeper channels of pain. Most of us struggle to be angels while failing often; but how bright the glory when someone, somewhere, succeeds in such a way!
Posted by: askmom at January 18, 2009 6:26 PMFrank P., that is the most profoundly accurate bit of opinion that I've ever read. God bless you!
