Ann Rutledge: "Out of me unworthy and unknown"

Out of me unworthy and unknown
The vibrations of deathless music;
“With malice toward none, with charity for all.”
Out of me the forgiveness of millions toward millions,
And the beneficent face of a nation
Shining with justice and truth.
I am Anne Rutledge who sleep beneath these weeds,
Beloved in life of Abraham Lincoln,
Wedded to him, not through union,
But through separation.
Bloom forever, O Republic,
From the dust of my bosom!

"Exterminate the brutes"???

Did you really just say that at Takimag?

Reading you for years only to find out you agree with that piece of shit Goad - that we need to *exterminate* the gypsys? And the jews too?

And don't hide behind Conrad.

WTF

Brutes,... Conrad.... Heart of Darkness. Check it out.

We don't take instruction and we don't conduct political litmus tests on individual bits of writing and stories.

Decolonize thy mind.

What does that even mean?

I *have* "checked out" The Heart of Darkness.

Was there something in your comment at TM to indicate that you disagree with Goad? You felt you needed to comment there, and that comment was a nod-of-the-head to his opinion.

It's like finding you saying "Right on!" over at a chimpout.com thread.

That woman-beating felon thinks that the Gypsies (and by extension, the Jews, because really they're very similar in their parasitism) deserve some old-fashioned European-style genocide, and you felt you needed to chime in with "Exterminate the brutes!".

I feel your pain.

Shameless.

Can you be more specific? I'm not seeing the finer details of your thinking.
