And The Best Thing About Palin Is...

palins.jpg
Palin being sworn in as Governor of Alaska. Bible held by her husband of 20 years, Todd

One of my commenters, Doug Anderson, gets it when he writes:

All the Palin pluses are exciting, but best of all is this:
With her selection she reminds us that the American political system was set up by our founders to be run by ordinary citizens who aren't necessarily professional politicians.

At any gathering of friends or family you look around and any easy half dozen of them would make a decent president, don't you think? Even Uncle Fred who pinches all the asses and likes his cups would make a decent commander in chief when pushed to the wall.
I didn't really like the rabidness of the conservative press when Clinton was president. I remember thinking more than once, "Let the man do his job."
Then it occurred to me that they were mostly upset because he was president and they - with their expensive educations and contacts - were part of the pencil-pushing herd and NOT president.
The hysteria of the Dems is easy to understand:
"Oh my God! A pleb woman who loves America... someone who represents and does what we only talk about!"
But I really I love the hysteria of our MSM pundits:
"Oh my God! If a normal American can run things how will I ever prove my superiority to the mass!"
The old bomber pilot's still got it...
And so does Doug. Posted by Vanderleun at August 30, 2008 1:40 PM

I'm guessing it's not all that complicated if you have Truth on your side, as it's just a matter of returning to first principles and pushing the appropriate button, as Reagan's easeful attitude toward the job proved. It only becomes complicated the more your life, mind, and ideology are a tangled web of lies and self-deceptions. Then it takes the intelligence of a Clinton to deal with the tangle of problems created by a Clinton.

Dear Gagdad Bob,

Glad to see you on another raccoon site.

Dear Gerald,

I think we might have a Reagan on our hands.

“We may be seeing the first woman president. As a Democrat, I am reeling . . . That was the best political speech I have ever seen delivered by an American woman politician. [Sarah] Palin is as tough as nails… Good Lord, we had barely 12 hours of Democrat optimism… It was a stunningly timed piece of PR by the Republicans.” — Camille Paglia

Regards,
Roy

I think I have the better metaphor here.

Sarah can well turn out to be the iceberg that sinks the Obama-tanic!

yes, well, i think she's a great pick. however, we seem to be going all 'messiah' on her. she's good, but not the second coming of christ. let's not become obamabots here.
