What the reporter said is absolutely true, including the thing about religious toleration, which I've heard from friends who've lived in, and visited, Syria. An Eastern Orthodox priest I know visited with Assad a couple of years ago, and confirmed this view.
Christians in Syria are very pro-Assad for a reason. Assad studied ophthalmology in the west and is relatively tolerant culturally---until recently, you could ride in a car in Damascus with a cross hanging from your front mirror. Dispose of him, and it's open season on Christians and others---an unimaginable bloodbath.
Assad is not a great guy, of course, but he is much the better alternative to Al Qaeda---the "rebels"---who is trying to depose him and that Obama is sending billions to and intending to go to war for.

And Obama is not getting suckered into this: the tentacles of the MB go all the way into the highest levels of the State Department and the White House. As soon as they finish off Assad, Islamists will control an unbroken swathe of geography, and then they'e consolidate and come for us. That they will do so with resources our President has given them is the tragedy. He is a traitor and should be impeached.

"Our investigators have been in neighboring countries interviewing victims, doctors and field hospitals and, according to their report of last week which I have seen, there are strong, concrete suspicions but not yet incontrovertible proof of the use of sarin gas, from the way the victims were treated," said Carla Del Ponte, a member of the commission. "This was use on the part of the opposition, the rebels, not by the government authorities."

An American jewish lady, whose name escapes me, has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars donated by other Jews, and several years of her life, to bribe Syrian authorities to allow Jews to escape from Syria at great risk to herself and the escapees. The few remaining Jews in Syria live in constant fear, and cannot practice their religion openly.
