Adieu, 2016. We had some good times but now it's not you, it's me.

Come gather round skeptics, wherever you roam
Cuz it seems ideology's taken it's toll
Now that diverse opinions give way to control
And the words that we are exchanging
Imply we should all simply stick to our roles
But the times they are a changing
White protesters speaking with pride on behalf
Of people who's pigment is used to distract
From the unbelievably ironic fact
These righteous protesters are racists
If you look in that mirror you won't like what looks back
Cuz the times they are a changing
Women infantilized everyday
But not by the men who the feminists blame
But instead by the motto that constantly claims
"The patriarchy is raging"
Oh suddenly I guess the draft ain't so great
Cuz the times, they are a changing
Right wing and left wing now on the same side
To fight against those who would rather decide
That it's only their opinions that are right
Our differences we are embracing
The lines have been redrawn here for the first time
Cuz the times they are a changing
Journalists, or should I just call you crooks
You peddled your oil for perceived greater goods
But our lives ain't decided by cults or by books
Your regressive shackles are fading
Your righteous indignation's just a new fangled hood
Oh, the times they are a changing

You're right from your side,
And I'm right from mine.
It's just one too many mornings
And a thousand miles behind.
......

Now many a year has passed and gone
And many a gamble has been lost and won;
And many a road taken by many a first friend,
And each one I've never seen again.

Opinions are allowed
And facts are just fine.
Truth is the standard
All need toe the line.

When egos clash
And all turns to hash
Remember the standard,
Truth , dearer than cash.

Keep smiling and chiding
For all is not lost
Only the dross
Needs be overboard tossed.

Dance with the Truth, persist.
It knows no fatigue,
So you need not desist
'Til the false falls flat
And does no longer resist.

The Truth is strange
It reflects the Real
In this age of the secular
It lacks some appeal
So remain in the vanguard
Lifted by laughter, and its peal.
