The Final Destination If Relations Between the USA and the USSR Get Too Far Off Center

Lest we forget that those morons in the White House get to play with live ammunition. One can only pray that the Secret Service has received instructions as to who and in what order should things get too enthusiastic or desperate.

“Russia said it had successfully test-fired an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) on Tuesday,

with tensions running high over its military intervention in Ukraine’s Crimea region.” True it was a scheduled test. But in July last year the US canceled a similar ICBM test in order not to offend North Korea. America cared about the sensibilities of North Korea. Apparently Putin doesn’t give a hang about Barack Obama. Belmont Club Ivan Ilyin

I'm shocked, shocked to find that apparently Putin doesn’t give a hang about Barack Obama!

Awright everybody, calm down and spread out. The major players in this game do not want to burn their own house down. Above the level of visible politics are the people that really run the world. No, uh uh, I am not going all cryptic One-World Cabal, I'm just following the money. Multi-national conglomerates and individuals do not waste money. That's how they accumulated it in the first place. Oil men, shipping, manufacturing, you know, all the things that make the world go 'round. None of them want Armageddon and it will not happen because of one unstable poofter we got near the button. Even some jerk like in NorKo ranting and raving or the Iranis stomping around, we got a bomb, we got a bomb. So fucking what? Play nice because if Daddy has to get up off the couch ... well, he dang sure ain't gonna burn the house down, he's gonna smack the brat misbehaving and sit back down again. Nice and comfy. Sure the world is going for a shit but it will be at a gradual (frog in a pot of hot water) pace. Even the Book of Revelation allows for a time of tribulation.

Thanks for posting, Gerard. Almost certainly the test fireball shown between 1:06 and 2:25 is that of CASTLE BRAVO, the largest of all US nuclear tests whose yield was 15MT. (The 60th anniversary of that test was, incidentally, last Saturday.) What I found most interesting, however (and had never heard before in any of the nuke test films I've seen), was the background roar of six R4360s: 28 cylinders apiece, dual-fired with 56 spark plugs per engine, firing to keep the RB-36 aloft as it filmed from 40,000ft dozens of miles away. Good pic of the device before its detonation at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Castle_Bravo_Shrimp_composite.png

"The major players in this game do not want to burn their own house down."

So, have these major players shown up since WWI, WWII, and the roughly 35 year long Cold War or was it in their interests to let the house burn down for the first two of those three conflicts?

I certainly feel comforted by the fact that the person on our side with control of the button also appears to have a raging case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

These may not be the End Times but you can certainly see them from here.

Tom: good questions for which I have no answers. I was addressing the possibility of global nuclear war more than the behavioral cycles of political entities.

I can't even speak to the concept of "major players" except to suggest that the world's financial groups transcend borders and make or break currencies and corporations and nations. Hardly the Illuminati or some vast über-government. The motives for any human endeavor can be explained by the Sex — Money — Power triangle. Hence the "follow the money" quip.

My Christian spiritual framework assures me that there is a God, a Higher Power, if you will, which is greater than me. Proof? Can't offer any, just belief. Proof of a global entity controlling world money and hence worldly affairs? Nah, can't offer that either. Just applying some logic (won't burn down their house down). If there were no controls we wouldn't be having this conversation. We'd be like in Planet of the Apes, looking at a half-buried Statue of Liberty. Slim and cold reassurance but what else we got?

Perhaps your perspective will enlighten me. How do you see it? Monkeys at play, sooner or later gonna bring the house down? Absolute random actions, eventually all them atoms free-falling will bang together in just the right combination? Human condition, majority rules? Me, I choose the God thing, and anticipate as do you the End Times.

Sad and lonely all the time
That's because I've got a worried mind
You know the world is in an uproar
The danger zone is everywhere, everywhere

Just read your paper
And you'll see
Just exactly what keeps worryin' me
Yeah, you'll see the world is in an uproar
The danger zone is everywhere

My love for the world is like always
For the world is a part of me
That's why I'm so afraid
Of the progress that's being made
Toward eternity

Every morning, noon, and night
Finds me hoping that everything's alright
Mm-hmm, the world is in an uproar
The danger zone is everywhere
