that at the very moment in history when China is struggling to awaken from its long nightmare the government of the United States is trying to drag this nation down into that same nightmare?

The government of the US is not trying to pull the people down into the fascism of Obama, Reid, & Pelosi, it is the Democrats, who for 220 years have always sought to be masters over other human beings who would be their slaves. May they rot in Hell.

The Chinese were first puzzled, then astonished, and now are concerned. They do not automatically assume the American weakness is going to be good for them.

i.e. It doesn't seem that strange. Regrettable as the learning curve back to success is going to be hell; but not strange.
