Handicapping Huffington

I'M JUST WONDERING ( and I can't be the only one) how quickly Arianna Huffington's Huffington Post Buddy Blog will join Air America in the slaughterhouse holding pen labelled, "Liberal Media Irrelevant to Their Medium." Less than a month old and already the tedium is thicker than clotted cream from Devon, or the blood beneath the killing floor.

And speaking of Air America (and who is?), is there any reason why Al What's-His-Name is still sucking a paycheck out of this DOA media horsemuffin. It's more mysterious than the persistence of Bill Maher on HBO -- which must be getting a check from the NEA.

"It is impossible to speak in such a way that you cannot be misunderstood." -- Karl Popper N.B.: Comments are moderated and may not appear immediately. Comments that exceed the obscenity or stupidity limits will be either edited or expunged.

Unless something drastic has changed, the Huffington site still doesn't take comments or trackbacks. So what's the point in writing about it? In the blogosphere, if you write something that nobody links to, you might as well not have bothered.

Well, you can link to it. Which I, you'll note, did not. It is all of a piece with Arianna -- all output, no input. GIGO!

Well, there's also the old dictum: garbage in...

Since she's either brainless or has absolute guile, and at the very least is on the Top Ten Mendacious list how could anyone bother looking her up to actually read anything there?

Shudder...

Never heard Air America either.

I love being culturally clueless...helps keep my blogging clean. Don't have to wipe out all the insect smears from the grille after you drive over to places like huffy.

It's easy to explain why Franken and Maher still draw paychecks: the entertainment industry's version of charity.

Jeff - actually SOME of the authors have enabled comments (with moderation).

Not that this makes the site any better...

What is this 'Huffington Post' of which you speak?

I've been trying to hold up a presence on Huffington Post, but it's fairly pointless and I'm slowly giving up. They have always allowed comments in the news article sections. And like Harvey said, some of the celebrities have allowed comments.

One of my first comments in the news section contained something fairly critical of the celebrities not taking comments... it was censored. Otherwise, they allow all sorts of stuff. For people who enjoy a good argument, it's like playing the old Nintendo game "Duck Hunt": easy to beat and lacking any challenge and eventually you just get overwhelmed by ducks.
