Current Local Hero: FedEx Driver breaks up Burning of US Flag in Lowa City

Coming right up: beatdowns for the traitors. Wash. Rinse. Repeat.

A group of protesters set fire to multiple American flags on the Iowa City pedestrian mall on Thursday, setting off a scuffle and heated verbal arguments with bystanders.

A man in a FedEx uniform, Matt Uhrin, rushed out with a fire extinguisher to put out the blaze. Uhrin took one of the flags from protesters, scuffling with a number of protesters in the process.

Uhrin declined to comment except to say his actions were not related to his employer.

One onlooker, Bob Guyer, said the act was disrespectful to military veterans.

"Probably every one of them has a relative at one point or another that died for that," Guyer said, referring to the flag.

"That's not free speech. Too many people have died for it," he said.

Thankfully, police arrested 21-year-old Kelli Ebensberger of Iowa City and 23-year-old Paul Osgerby of Ames for open burning, which is a simple misdemeanor.- - Frontpage Mag

Well, it is "free speech", but it is pretty loathsome free speech. It is an insulting bit of free speech that is a vulgar slap in the face to veterans who have served under the flag and who might have had friends that died under that flag. It is an insult to every man, woman and child who reveres the flag and the Republic for which it stands.
If you want to engage in a type of vulgar free speech, you should be aware that someone might really not stand for it, and act accordingly.

Who is filming him? How did this happen?

He'll be looking for a new job next. But, it may be one of the memories of a lifetime, and was the right thing to do. His gut wouldn't have allowed anything else.

Don't talk to these people; don't answer questions. Just take the flags. The courage to enter that crowd was outstanding!

It's allowable to burn the flag in public as a protest? Bullshit! That's between the law and the citizen, but as a Veteran - American, I have my boundaries, too.

Rick Monday approves.

Wait a minute. That is a great idea. We should start carrying fire extinguishers around to put out the burning flags and defend ourselves from punks. I think this guy is on to something here.

I think it should be made law to be a felony to burn the flag and be jailed and fined. If they do not like this country and do not want to join together to help fix it then get out and find out what happens when you burn other country's flags openly. Hats off to you Matt Uhrin you deserve a medal!

All you need is the 'head's up' that actually doing the right thing is supported, and the amount of right being done will amaze you.

The pussy in the cowboy hat with the kerchief over his face hollering "I'll fight fascism here!" That was real gansta!

If you show your nation's flag, you are a Fascist. Just watch. This will become their battle cry. Libs see Fascism as a derogatory term, and it is based on their feelings. It has no underpinning in political reality and they. just. don't. care.
Fascism was Mussolini's political movement where the state becomes the ultimate expression of the political order. That's it, in a nutshell. Naziism rose out of the Fascist political format, and was state-eminence. The belligerents in World War I (1914-1918) were all nationalists. Did that make every WW I participant a Nazi? No. Obama was racially focused; it was his lens through which to view the world. Nazi? Similar, but other viewpoints include racism as a driver. What did Obama love in politics? The farking state. Got a problem? Yes. The state will solve it, and you can sit in the corner and watch. Don't got a problem? Fine. We'll make one up for you (environment). The state will solve that, too.
Hmmmm. Whose the Nazi, now?
Ask yourself: under Obama, were you afraid to have an opinion about something? That's called intimidation. The calling card of the Brown Shirts (Nazis).
If I were a young conservative activist, I'd stage some flag rescues as street theater. Have some fake newsies there to expose that nerve, too.

Ah, rather than putting out the fire, toss a few ol' korans on it. You know, free speech.

Posted by: itor at January 28, 2017 7:37 PM

Well, the fed-ex guy exercised his right to free speech as well. Good for him!

The courts declared flag burning legal. I think people should declare judge burning legal.
