Night Road to Mesa: 219 MPH in a Lamborghini. And Busted by the Web.

Elwood: "It's 106 miles to Mesa, Arizona, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, a Lamborghini LAMBO, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Jake: Hit it.

Authorities have confirmed they are investigating a viral Internet video that shows a driver in a Lamborghini who claims to be driving at 219 mph on an Arizona highway. -- ABC News: Max Speed on Lamborghini Sets New Record

While Arizona authorities "investigate" the web surfaces the perp's expunged confession

Mustangworld Messageboard - Just did 219mph... LP640
Was just out in the 2008 lp640 Lamborghini Murcialago with rob for our websites www.azstreetscene.com, www.saleenpower.com and www.205mph.com. We did 219mph with 3 camera angles set up in HD video. Editing will begin tonight so keep an eye out for this video its gonna be hot!!!! [205mph.com is now offline]
And the comments at MyFoxPhoenix give the perp a name:
Its very simple to find out who is making these videos.

The owner of 205MPG.com is...

And the Google chase ends with:
Porn Idiot drives Lambo 219mph past my Arizona freeway exit "The owner of the vehicle (and likely creator of the video, based on the '205mph.com' credit) is Robert Simiar, owner of ftvgirls.com."
At FTVGirls.com (First Time Video) we learn that:
Robert is the driving force behind the whole site. Melissa, his wife and model, keeps a 'woman's touch' to the whole layout and theme of the site.
Suddenly it all makes sense.

This "man" is a homicidally dangerous moron who, once caught and found guilty, should never have a driving permit again and if found driving without a permit should go to jail. Or, failing that, maybe he should have happen to him what he is obviously asking for - as long as he doesn't take anyone else with him.

Nice. I'm glad he was driving on the 202 south of Mesa - if he'd been driving on the north side, some of the lumps and bumps in the freeway would probably have turned his Lambo into a flying machine.

The guy is just keeping with the long (at least the last 30 years) of desert freeway "banzai running". In the early 80's, there was a guy around Palm Springs with a twin-turboed Caddy that would crack 200. Yeah, it's nuts, but it's not like every yahoo in the world has something capable of this- do you know what Murcielago costs? (>$300K) This earth is populated with lots of "hold my beer and watch this" types. This is just an example of one with mucho cash.
