"Intellectually Insane!" ®

aninsanebrain.jpgBig Brother Speaks: "Enemies of the homeland, particularly those behind the scenes, I will give you a name: Globovision. Greetings gentlemen of Globovision, you should watch where you are going. I recommend you take a tranquilizer and get into gear, because if not, I am going to do what is necessary." -- Hugo Chavez, Venezuelan Proctologist-in-Training. Hard to believe there a scads of Americans in love with this fascist, but, hey, once a bear gets hooked on garbage, there's no cure.

Big Sister Speaks: "Starting in the fall and toward the end of the year we're going to start seeing troops withdrawn from Iraq. 'My argument is, why wait?' " Given her history, we can understand why Hillary Clinton's default state is to pray for an early withdrawal, but just because her husband complied years ago is no reason to insist the America do the same.

Plame Porn: Glenn Greenwald manages to work 45 exciting mentions of the word "Plame" into a single posting. Satiated at last, Greenwald cleans himself up with a hot towel. Those in the blogosphere who are not stimulated are disgusted.

Pain Porn: Am I alone in thinking that, over the past few years, Andrew Sullivan is actually getting off on torture?

Kill the Heretic!: Nasa administrator Griffin fails to sign NASA up to the Global Warming Crusade: "I have no doubt that a trend of global warming exists. I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with.... I guess I would ask which human beings - where and when - are to be accorded the privilege of deciding that this particular climate that we have right here today, right now is the best climate for all other human beings. I think that's a rather arrogant position for people to take." [emphasis added] Global members of the Cult of the Warming get hot enough to raise their internal temperature 10 degrees centigrade. Boiling sputum erupts across the LeftoSphere.

Falling Skies!: The AP chortles "U.S. Economy Grows by Just 0.6 Percent in the First Quarter, Worst 3-Month Showing in 4 Years." At last, some economic news we can get behind! Let's review... that's been sixteen straight quarters of high growth followed by one quarter of .6% growth, right? Surely the Great Depression is due next month. Sell!

You know, if I was a reporter working in an industry like the newspapers who have had, what, more than sixteen straight quarters of severe negative growth, I don't know that I'd be taking such pleasure in such news. But then I'm not "Intellectually Insane!" ®

Maybe this guy just isn't showing up for work like he used to:

Re: Pain Porn: Maybe, just maybe Sullivan actually thinks that torture is something that Should not be condoned and supported by the American Government? Maybe he believes that Torture is fundementally Abhorrant and evil? And maybe he was trying to show that one time, America executed people for doing the same thing being condoned by the Administration? So, instead of giving a good counter arguement, you make a smarmy comment and try to dismiss the entire issue. Having trouble defending your position?

At first, I thought that was a Jack Davis cartoon at the bottom. Whose is it?

If the United States really did and could execute people for depriving other people of sleep, or compelling them to be alone, or eat food that, while heatlthy, is not their first choice, then college professors and administrators and the managers of those doing McJobs are all in serious trouble.

What the heck are you talking about, Mark? Apparently you believe that waterboarding, isolation and psychological intimidation are the moral equivalents of summary executions, gang rapes, permanent and grotesque body mutilations, and the torture of children in front of their parents.

THAT is an indefensible position; at least for decent and rational men. And trying to pre-determine the terms of the debate by chanting "Bush does too condone torture, nah nah nah nah nah" may make you feel morally superior, but reality is not on your side. This administration does just about the same as almost all administrations have done throughout America's history. No more, no less, and hopefully to the same victorious effect as the measures we took against other tyrants, dictators and butcherers.

We are at war and must treat those who would kill us as enemy combatants. That is an issue you cannot dismiss, twist and turn the facts as you may. You are correct that there is something very big and very evil at large in the world today, Mark; you simply have grasped the moral compass by the wrong side and see collaborating evils where really there is only fierce, and desperate, resistance to slaughter and slavery.
