Drive-By

Al Franken, not content with sucking millions of dollars out of the wallets of hapless Air America "investors" is now directing his vast powers of suction at the wallets of those who want to see him as the Senator from Minnesota. No problem there, there are many newly monied fools who will write the check to this sponge. The only problem is that Franken will be slaughtered like a baby seal on ludes by his competition, incumbent Norm Coleman (Poll: Coleman would easily trump Franken). Then again, its all good since every dollar sucked out of the 2008 race by Franken is one dollar less for something that has a chance of getting into office. You'd think Franken, being a self-proclaimed "idealist" and not the sponging leech his detractors say, would bow out for someone real; would take one for the Democrats. Not a chance, Franken's just the white version of Al Sharpton, professional race hustler. Same motives, different packaging.

Sen. Ted Stevens (R- Alaska) want's to ban Wikipedia along with social networking sites from schools. Guess the library's copy of the 1963 World Book will have to do. Sen. Stevens is also famous for describing the Internet as "a series of tubes." His bill has been called "Son of DOPA" which seems about right.

The Senator's web page notes that one of the major accomplishments he has made in his 37 year career is making "every Senator aware that Alaska is one-fifth the size of the entire United States and has half of the country's coastline, thanks to Stevens' reminders on the Senate floor and elsewhere." Plus the fact that Alaska has one Senator whose intellect rivals Homer Simpson.

At Roger Simon's he's pointing out that what the war's critics are really looking forward to is to "kick back and watch the greatest of all war movies." Complete with a clip from Groucho.

J. Rubin @ The American Spectator notes that Rudy Giuliani may well be redefining what it means to be a "social conservative." When mayor of New York, for example, "he succinctly described the best social program for ending poverty: 'fatherhood.' "

This is just history repeating itself as farce. When Pat Paulsen ran for President, it was a joke: http://www.paulsen.com/ Just further proof that Franken is no longer funny.

An elaboration of the best social program for ending poverty:

Get married.
Stay married.
Have children.

The Real Anti-Poverty Program

Develop a skill.

Get employed.

Find a girl, settle down, get married.

Have kids, raise kids, teach them a skill.

Make the above a family tradition.
