Was It Something He Said?

teddoken.jpg
And may God strike me dead
if I'm not telling the truth....

Plane carrying Sen. Kennedy struck by lightning "A small jet carrying U.S. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy from a commencement speech in western Massachusetts to his Cape Cod home on Saturday was struck by lightning and had to be diverted to New Haven."

In his address to the graduates of the redunantly named "Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts," Kennedy said: "In our country today and in nations throughout the world, young Americans are doing

worthwhile things. They are people whose names you may never know, whose pictures you may never see, whose deeds you may never read about - young physicians bringing health care to people and places that never had a doctor - young teachers bringing knowledge and opportunity to children who never had a chance before - young business men and women bringing new enterprises to inner cities and rural farms, ending poverty and neglect."

Kennedy failed to mention one group of young Americans who are not binge-drinking at places like "Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts" tonight, but are instead bringing health care, bringing knowledge, bringing new enterprises to inner cities and rural farms, and working to establish freedom, end tyranny and poverty and neglect. Those would be the thousands upon thousands of our soldiers risking their lives in Afghanistan and Iraq daily. Beneath Kennedy's notice, unless he's scheming for a way to undermine them, which is why he is beneath contempt.

Strange how they are not mentioned at all by Senator Kennedy. Stranger still that God's aim still seems to be a bit off. Oh, well, it may just have been a bit of a message, a hint. He is, after all, a forgiving God, His will, not mine and all that, but.... "How long, oh Lord, how long?"

UPDATE: "AskMom" (once a DC lobbyist) relates, in the comments to this item, a real-time sighting of Senators Kennedy and Chris Dodd at play in Washington:

One night I watched the Senators at their favorite game, trying to make a waitress sandwich. The fresh-faced and utterly terrified girl had to be rescued by the owner. Tact and perhaps offers of other not so dewy but more willing women saved her. Others, I am sure, were not so lucky.

Everyone talks about the "Kennedy curse." As if Ted's existence doesn't even the score.

Thank you for the Mothers' Day gift. The inclusion of the quotes from his speech are priceless.

Late last night when I heard that Teddy's plane was struck by lightning, I composed an email titled:

"God to Ted?"

Being "under the weather" and not wanting some to be thought a Falwellian, the email went into my "waiting to be sent" file. Feeling better, I will now send out your post.

Thank you.

A Church Bell weighing thousands of pounds fell 40ft this morning in a "church" in Maine.

Just now, video of dam overtopping its walls in Mass.

More messages?

When I was lobbying in D.C. the antics of Ted were on open display at all the nicest places, and were one of the best kept non-secrets in town. The voters back home were willfully unwilling to see the thug beneath the Kennedy name.

He and fellow Senator Chris Dodd would be shadowed diligently by bouncers and security guys at the bars and clubs. Cabbies and drivers conspired to help keep the situations under control. When they left one place the guys would give a heads-up call to the next place. Cops were always alert to Kennedize as we saw last week: contain, clean, conjure, whisk away.

One night I watched the Senators at their favorite game, trying to make a waitress sandwich. The fresh-faced and utterly terrified girl had to be rescued by the owner. Tact and perhaps offers of other not so dewy but more willing women saved her. Others, I am sure, were not so lucky.

The biggest male supporters of abortion on demand are usually the ones most at risk for paternity (never married to the mother) child support payments. Big surprise. It would be interesting to add up what the Kennedys might owe if they had been less successful at making baby murder a profitable sport in America.

Thankfully more reality and less myth now attaches to the name. Kennedys are dying out, misbehaving themselves to death faster than they can reproduce. There is justice, long delayed but sure at God's Last Call.

Get him out of New Haven as soon as possible! We have enough problems with Taliban Guy.

Finally a reason to tell my Teddy story!

In 1982/83 two of my clients/friends went down to Palm Beach. We were all quite attractive gals. As luck would have it, by the time we got our bikini's on it started to rain, so we decided to "dunk" our sorrows. At some local bar, we met some really ancient, rather creepy Palm Beach "society reporter". He tried to regal us with his contacts and offered to show us around (eye roll). At that point, the rain stopped and we dashed back to get on the beach. We found a message from him at the hotel inviting us to some wonderful club and promising some grand surprises.

Saying, what the he**, we decided to check it out - there were 3 of us! Well, now I realize what service the PB "SOCIETY REPORTER" was offering. What was hysterical, was that when he brought Teddy over to meet us, after the Tedster had sent bottle of champagne to our table, we were merely polite, but continued looking over the crowd. Teddy asked me to dance and I said, "No dancing tonight, a little sunburned." We finished our glasses, not the bottle and left.

At the next place we stopped, a very distinguised gentlemen came over and introduced himself and said, "I must meet the three lovely ladies who gave Ted Kennedy their very cold shoulders tonight. You have made my month!" I replied, "My very first vote was for Barry Goldwater" with that I won his heart!

Turned out he was not only from an old wealthy Boston family, he also had a PB family estate and his exwife had gone thru rehab with Joan. He was a lovely man, but ~25 years older than me, we became just good friends. Each time he invited me to Boston, he loved to introduce me with the tale of Teddy and his champagne.

Lord only knows what would have happened to 3 ladies from a "fly-over" city, had we been LIBS!

"Power without responsibility corrupts. Absolute power without absolute responsibility corrupts absolutely." John Wood Campbell Jr.

Putting Senator Edward Kennedy of Massachesetts in Federal prison for the rest of his life would be a good first step in restoring accountability to the U. S. Congress.

Posted by: Alan Kellogg at May 14, 2006 5:14 PM

Mr. Kellogg,

What on earth did those Federal inmates ever do to you?

Posted by: C. S. P. Schofield at May 15, 2006 6:39 AM

While giving a wink and a smile to the ever-astute Alan Kellogg for his idea, ultimately one finds more weight in CSP Schofield's.

True, it would be gratifying to wake each morning to the knowledge that Ted was actually working at a real job. Better yet, daily having done to him what he's been doing to the taxpayers and legions of individual women.

But just think of the mess. Partially protecting the rest of DC, Congress has a trillion watt slime and corruption barrier (constantly maxed out). The prison, however, relies on human labor to keep the grounds and inmates somewhat clean. Two weeks after Kennedy moved in, nuclear bombing would be the only feasible sanitation method.

Many of the inmates would already be gone, sold by Kennedy for sex slaves, spare body parts or at least the mineral value in their carcasses.

Hmmmm. Maybe the better idea after all. Kennedy at the center of a nuclear hellstorm is a message even a Democrat ought to be able to read.
