Support Michael Yon in Iraq Today

IN OVER TWO YEARS, I HAVE NOT ASKED FOR ANYTHING FROM MY READERS. That changes today. Today I want you to do something right now.

What I would ask you to do today is to make as significant a contribution as you can to Michael Yon who has, since the start of 2005, been writing what has become a high-water mark in reporting from the front lines of Iraq. My respect for his integrity, his writing and his courage is, I have reason to believe, shared by many of our troops on the ground in Iraq.

There's been a lot of talk about how important it is to have independent voices telling us about the situation in Iraq. Well, to get that you have to pay for it. It's time we all did. Michael Yon has a Support button on his site. Please visit it and give as significant a sum as you can.

I'll go first.

Other donation information:The cost of these dispatches is borne solely by Michael. Donations can also be sent to Michael Yon P O Box 416 Westport Pt MA 02791

Attention Bloggers: Please consider echoing this appeal on your own page.

Michael Yon sent a very courteous thank you note within hours of a donation I made Sunday. His work is fantastic and he deserves every bit of support that anyone can give.

Thank you, Gerard, for doing this.

Smash makes the same suggestion, in the wake of Steven Vincent's murder.
