Numa Numa Original Discovered and Decoded

[FEBRUARY 15: Greetings Numa Numa searchers. You complete, up-to-date Numa Numa links are now at Numa Numa Virus Breakout @ AMERICAN DIGEST ]

picasso.jpg

UPDATE: The origin of the dreaded and dreadful, yet profoundly hypnotic, NUMANUMA has been located. And it is avaiable at this link Now with SUBTITLES! (If you want them.)

We don't think that the addition of the translation improves the item, but then again improvement is not what this item seeks, is it?

SECURITY ALERT: The Numa Numa seems to be spreading and is now infecting the youth of America.

ANDREW SULLIVAN ALERT!: Numa Numa has now reached THE HISPANIC VILLAGE PEOPLE. "Marica Quien? Marica Tu!"

At the same time, the straight world was not slow in coming back with somewhat less colorful Numa Numa as an Office Olympics event.

Then, in a universe far, far away, a bizarre life form in the throes of gender confusion makes a solid case for why webcams need to be outlawed. [NSFS: Not safe for sanity.]

Developing....

[Extra reporting and legwork from Desperately Wandering who is, as they say, "all over this."]

Just remember folks, romanians were quite big in the dadaist movement. We have had and likely always will have a great sense of the absurd. It helps us deal with the governments we must suffer through (though the latest is something of an upgrade from the usual so it can't last).

This is like a Schnitpoog nightmare. Oy Veh!
Makes you want to go home and unwind with a little shooting spree*.

Actually I think the song is Polish.

I could be wrong though.

Posted by: K at January 30, 2005 5:13 PM

The song is by O Zone and is called "Dragostea din tei"

Posted by: Brian at February 7, 2005 1:33 AM

The kid with the funniest lip-sync I've ever seen is from Nova Scotia, and appears to not know a word of Romanian. He just has good taste in music and a great sense of humour.

Posted by: SkippyMo at February 7, 2005 8:33 AM

This kid is friggin hilarious..I love it. HAHAHA! Rock on!!

Posted by: Carole at February 7, 2005 8:26 PM

Posted by: nybuck at February 16, 2005 4:31 PM

This song is sung in Portugese. The name (Numa Numa) is, in English, (In one In one).

Posted by: Rob at February 16, 2005 8:57 PM

Romanian band singing Portugese song? That's just messed up...

Posted by: Mr. Rubino at February 17, 2005 12:38 PM

What's more messed up is that the fat dude is from Jersey and his name is Gary. But again the song title in English is "Love Among the Linden Trees" What is becoming of this world!

THIS IS THE BEST SONG EVER CREATED I LOVE IT TO DEATH. THIS SONG WILL BE PLAYED AT MY WEDDING AND FUNERAL. I WILL MARRY ALL 3 OZONE MEMBERS AND MAKE HOT MESSY LOVE WITH THEM!!!1

Posted by: mimmykimmytimmy at February 22, 2005 7:53 AM

I've done research for a long time on the video and music, and I guarentee you that it is sung in Romanian by the band "O-Zone". The title is called Dragostea Din Tei. That should stop the same questions, although I have one =). The kid who sings it, his name is Gary, and he lives in New Jersey? I'm trying to get more information about him. If anyone had an e-mail address for him or phone number or anything else, it would be much appreciated if you could share it. Thanks.

Posted by: Tarek at February 22, 2005 8:35 PM

Just to give you the idea, the original song is called "Dragostea din Tei", and it was initially performed in Romanian by the group from Moldova called "O-zone". Then it got spread out in many languages, and here we go, it's performed by Gary... Not the best version, though...

Posted by: Moldavanka at February 23, 2005 2:50 PM

Ok, it isn't by haiducii, it is by o-zone, it is romanian, and the title does not mean 'in one in one' it means don't want me or something like that. yay! oh, sorry, i said the title meant that... that's what nu ma nu ma means, the title is Dragostea Din Tae, Love Among the Linden Trees... There, nobody make any mistakes or I'll have to kill you and send you're soul to Beelzebub

Posted by: Baka at February 23, 2005 6:57 PM

i think that o zones songe "Dragostea din tei"
or numa numa as every one else is say is a very cool song and since i am seeing gary sing it i downloaded the song byetself too
i think that gary is awsomn for tallent and that no one should makeing fun just because he is fat or cause he is makeing vidieos he was just having fun and every one made him feel bad
I loved the numa dance and besides it made me laugh
so everyone who is to stupid to stfu and just enjoyed this go fuck yourselfs

Posted by: mogget at February 26, 2005 8:53 PM

I'm Romanian but I live in the US and the band is in fact O-zone and the song is called Dragostea din Tei. The Portugese thing really annoys me,but now everyone knows it's Romanian. Oh and I say thank you to the person who said that Romanians are great people and know how to live life to the fullest. You are correct!

Posted by: mike conley at May 29, 2005 2:07 PM

Posted by: Roman at May 29, 2005 8:48 PM

Don't Romanians speak Russian because my sisters sister is 5(complicated not even going to try to explain sorry) and is half Russian and knows english and Russian and understands this song, also I can't tell if they're gay because other countries are more open than the U.S. sooo they might not be but I'm leaning more towards yes

in Romania, homosexuals are deserving to be killed and hung. The Romania country is more shut than the US when thins come down to issues that are of the sort.
