Wizbang Fever! Polls Close Tomorrow

Because nobody asked me, here are my current picks in the Wizbang 2004 Weblog Awards.

MOST IMPORTANT CATEGORY! Best Essayist: AMERICAN DIGEST aka "ME." Because I would like to get at least 2% of the vote. And by the way, why isn't The Belmont Club in this list? He'd give Hanson and Lileks a run for their money.

Best Overall: Has to be Glenn ( PostBot) Reynolds @ Instapundit. I know it was an election year. Oh, I do know. But look... Up every day at the crack of dawn for an email stack as tall as Jack's Beanstalk. Most important portal site in the sphere. All upside except for the infrequent slips back into the abyss of cat-blogging. (Hey, who's drug free these days?)

I would vote for The Belmont Club but it really is out of category here. Wretchard is one of our best essayists and that's where he should have been. Putting him here is inexplicable.

Best Group? : No contest. Winds of Change for reach and depth. Not to mention the spiritual edge on the weekends.

New Kid on the Block: INDC Journal For advanced moonbat research if for nothing else.

Big Yucks: protein wisdom. Because Jeff promised me three wishes.

Blog to the Left: Brad DeLong's Semi-Daily Journal. Here's one category where you've just got to find something to love in order to vote against the excrable Oliver Willis. I see the boyish Matt is leading which is unfortunate, but then most of this selection is most unfortunate

Blog to the Right: Captain's Quarters. Tough choice here but I'm going with a nautical theme.

Election Coverage: RealClearPolitics Best goto for polls and surveys and breaking opinion. If you value opinion that is "breaking."

Best Media / Journalist: OpinionJournal - Best of the Web Today. Taranto. At it for years. Has a staff, is brilliant day in and day out, and lives on the Wall Street Journal's servers. Hard to beat.

Best Cultural Blog: a small victory Big range, big heart, clear head.

Best Sports Blog: I'm sports impaired. No dog in this fight.

Best Photo Blog: Satan's Laundromat. For the name as much as for the shots.

Best Gay Blog: BoiFromTroy is my man here.

Best Design: Cold Fury . Because I turned him on to tabs and because he never, ever relents. The Ted Nugent of the blogosphere.

Best "Online Community:" Drew Curtis' FARK Every other community on the list is a bunch of girly men. Even the girls.

Best Military Blog: BLACKFIVE. Toughest call of all, but my gut told me to go with this. Admirable, but they all are.

Best UK Blog: THE BELGRAVIA DISPATCH. No questions about it. Steady, sensible and very, very clear.

Best of the Rest of Europe: the dissident frogman. Cheese-eating non-surrender monkey.

Best of the Middle East: IRAQ THE MODEL Another tough call but you can only choose one so I chose one.

Australia? Tim Blair, Tim Blair, Tim Blair, and Tim Blair. If Spengler at Asia Times had a blog there'd be a contest, but he doesn't and so --- Tim Blair

Best of Top Ecosystem Blogs: Donald Sensing's One Hand Clapping -- which we almost lost but is thankfully back.

Best of the Rest: Michael J. Totten because he's a great writer and better human being.

Betsy's Page for it's drop-your-socks color sense and consistently interesting items.

2blowhards.com for best intellectual tennis match by curmudgeons going.

Finally, The Glittering Eye which is a rising star in the ecosphere. One to watch.

New Kid on the Block: INDC Journal For advanced moonbat research if for nothing else.

Thanks. I'd hope that sticking it to Dan Rather might get me a vote or two as well.

Oh, Dan's so yesterday!

Moonbats are forever.

I'm sick to death of the Weblog Awards, & not just because I'm 50,000 votes behind Scrapple, or Jeff, or whoever the hell I'm behind today.

I think Kevin started this for the same reason Tony kidnapped everybody to Mystery Island on Days of our Lives: to sit back & watch the feathers fly.
