The Most Offensive Racist Cartoon Published In Major US Daily in 40 Years

By Pat Oliphant.

Pat "Some of my best friends are..." Oliphant

Published this day in the Washington Post . Syndicated too.

I grant that there may have been a more racist cartoon published in a major newspaper in the last 40 years, but I'm not aware of it. If you are, please enlighten me.

Anyone want to lay odds that it'll be decried as such?

It not only seems racist, it's so demeaning. Rice is an intelligent, powerful woman and here this man is belittling her. Is pretty sad.

This one from a month ago is at least as bad, I think. This stuff is making me sick.

Posted by: Johnny Walker Red at November 17, 2004 4:48 PM

Anything by Ted Rall qualifies as "offensive", but you might have a point on the "racist" bit with this one.

Unbelievable. But I guess it's OK b/c it's mocking Bushitler... right? //rolls eyes//

LA Times today.

"Rice's ability to become an almost clone-like extension of the president — to understand what he wants, to make her only agenda his agenda and to carry out his wishes with unfailing loyalty — has made her invaluable."

Remind one of a Parrot?

In a more nearly perfect world, Mrs. Hassan would be writing an English grammar column for the Washington Post, and the muj would have whacked that dipshit Oliphant. This is really starting to piss me off.

Point taken and alteration made.

Posted by: Gerard Van der Leun at November 17, 2004 7:09 PM

The person who wrote this is starting to make him
sick is correct. The "sickness" is the thinking
of someone who would write this cartoon and the
people who would post it in their paper.

The liberals are sick, they are sick with hate,
they cannot control it anymore, it is leaking out
and the country and the world is seeing them as
they are.

I am not black, but it I was I would be very,
very, upset about how this woman is being
treated. How long will it take for them to see
what is happening? How long before they begin,
maybe, to realize they have followed the wrong
party? They should be furious at the libs for
this one. I am, for Condi and for the african
Americans who do not think this is alright as she is just the president's parrot.

It is a shameful presentation of a very small
minded, racist, stupid liberal and the paper
that posted it should apologize. Tomorrow.
Dream on, they no longer have any integrity.

I'm with BRD in the "how is this racist?" department. It's not like she's saying "yassuh massa".

I'm NOT with BRD in the "unpatriotic" department, though. I don't see it as especially demeaning, either. All it's saying is that Dr. Rice is "too in line" with Bush's agenda, which is a criticism I'm not surprised to hear from the Dems, especially since Colin Powell was a bit unsupportive of Bush's ends.

But having said that, I'll also say that Oliphant is an unfunny jackass who should be digging ditches instead of drawing cartoons.

Posted by: Harvey at November 17, 2004 9:30 PM

And this is racist because the person being lampooned is black? That's being just a little precious isn't it?

Posted by: John Hardy at November 18, 2004 2:03 AM

I have little doubt that were this a cartoon about a Democrat, it would be loudly decried as racist by many.

However, I'd probably say "no, it's just obnoxious" to those who claimed that, and I think I have to render the same judgement here.

The aluminum tubes cartoon, however...

Pat Oliphant: What a pathetic little man. What a small minded, emnpty individual. What a jerk.

Posted by: Mikey at November 18, 2004 7:47 AM

The TSM (Terrorist Supporting Media - AKA MSM) since the election has revealed that they no longer have any credibility, but now they show that they have no integrity either.

Dr. Rice is probably one of the most qualified appointees for the position of Secretary of State in a very long time. The fact that she is not only a woman, but a black woman, has the liberal lefty's panties in a rather large twist. To use their own login on this situation would say that Pat Oliphant is a sexist racist, and I for one, will avoid him at all costs. His life's work should be flushed down the toilet so that there is no memory of his ever being.

Posted by: Vulgorilla at November 18, 2004 7:53 AM

Nope, much as I dislike Oliphant, you're going to have to come back and explain how this is racist.

This is not even close to the jackass radio jock in Milwaukee calling her an "Aunt Jemima."

Posted by: Bill Peschel at November 21, 2004 2:13 PM

I don't see it as particularly racist. Derivative, yes...the point that Bush surrounds himself with Yes-Men(& Women) has been made again and again. The fact that he is appointing his personal tutor and wannabe wife as Secretary of State isn't much of a suprise.

Posted by: Damon at November 22, 2004 1:43 PM

Damon is a moron.

Posted by: Kat at June 8, 2005 8:34 PM

Derivative, ugly, demeaning, arrogant, petty, small, mean, disgusting, not particularly clever... yes. But "racist"? He has elongated her lips AS A PARROT, and there's nothing else in this to attack or parody or ride upon race.

She is, in fact, black human, and one dynamite intellectually sharp, well-dressed and highly-competent one at that. This reveals much about Oliphant's shortcomings, and little about Bush or Rice's.

Posted by: Carridine at June 9, 2005 6:50 PM

Funny to watch you guys so desperate to find anything that could be slightly construed as offensive to the presidential office. Here is a man that has decieved the world, killed 3,000 of your fellow citizens so that he can get you angry enough to start a war. And here is the woman, seemingly immune to any kind of criticism lest it be construed as a statement about skin colour, or her gender.
Can't you see more than 2 feet in front of you? it's a sham and you guys are lapping it up asking for more.

How's it feel to know you are a minority political force of rednecks without your precious Diebold machines to lie to you? And no i'm not a dem, just an observant outsider.

Dispatches from the New American my ass.

Posted by: ren at December 7, 2005 1:14 PM

Ren, how 'bout you getting your ass back behind the counter and get me my tall vanilla latte and chocolate chip scone, okay? Leave the "i'm not a dem" talk for the dim bulbs over at Kos and your conspiracy theories about 9/11 for the rest of the idiots at your Karl Marx fan club meeting.

You are truly a magnificent pile of crap. Your parents must be so proud.

Posted by: Ren_is_a_dumbass at December 7, 2005 3:16 PM

This is really just an extension of the Democrats referring to and black in the Bush Administration as an Uncle Tom or Aunt Jemima, which both Rice and Powell have been called numerous times. The message is that any black that works for Bush should be looked down upon because they don't tow the liberal line. Liberals want their blacks to remain dependent on them, lest they lose even more voters. The concept is no different than Democrats of old wanting to keep them "down on the farm."

Posted by: Uncle Tom at December 7, 2005 6:41 PM

Carradine mentioned that he elongated her lips "like a parrott". Funny, I did not know parrotts had lips!!! But the lips is not the only thing that points to racism.

It is racists in that they are portraying Rice as a dumb black woman who is being duped by her white master. She HAS to be dumb, according to the libs, since Bush is so stupid and he is duping her. If the roles were reversed, and this was a cartoon making Rosa Parks (or some other non-conservative black woman) a parrott for, say, John F. Kennedy, there would be riots in every city and condemnation throughout the MSM. That would never happen, though, because no newspaper would dare print it. If it takes a shot at Bush or a black conservative, then it is okay. A double standard.

To disagree with a couple of posters, I do not believe Ren is a "dumbasses" or "stupid". I do believe that his heart is so full of hatred that he cannot distinguish between fantasy and reality. If no matter what a person does is considered wrong, the person holding that view is a bit deranged (no one is wrong all of the time). These libs are in fear that their philosophy is being threatened (and it is)as a majority of Americans do not subscribe to it. They are fighting desperately for their lives. But they need a dose of reality. Marxism is alive and well in North Korea, Cuba, China, and Vietnam. If you love that philosophy so much, why don't you live there? The answer is obvious. You want the best of both worlds. You need to make a choice: am I pro-American, or anti-American? If you choose the latter (which to me seems obvious), then do yourself a favor and leave this terrible place! You will be much happier in a marxist country, I am sure.

Pathetic idiots! First, Rice is Bush's SecState...she SHOULD be in line publicly with his agenda. Second, how ironic that the left always call the right racist & sexist, but then when a conservative pres selects an intelligent, articulate BLACK WOMAN, they go beserk.... What a bunch of idiots!

Posted by: steelerzfanz at December 8, 2005 7:31 PM

Am I wrong in thinking that "Ren_is_a_dumbass" is a bot? I'm pretty sure I've seen those exact same insults from a random insult generator. You forgot "lily-pated", though... that's a good one, if you like generally meaningless insults.

Meanwhile, Pat's showing his arse again... this is a particularly bad cartoon, and it's earned the "racist" comments though more accurate might just be "hateful and stupid". "Ren_is_a_dumbass" and Pat seem to have learned politics from the same school. I'm not sure Ren has learned any politics.

Posted by: Risky at December 13, 2005 4:54 PM

Condi is a smart woman..even though I disagree with her politically...she knows better about what is going on than our own commander in chief.

Posted by: jennifer at December 16, 2005 10:29 AM

I think it's a GREAT and funny cartoon that's really appropriate for the corrupt bush admin.

Condi, like her numbskull of a boss bush, is nothing but a puppet. Then again a parrot is like the same thing.

The conservatives raising the race card? Now that's funny. What a bunch of hypocrites!

Posted by: Bob at December 31, 2005 11:30 AM

Anyone, male, female, white, black, etc., in Bush's administration and being considered for this post who behaved in the manner of Chauvin, as she has done, would have been the subject of this cartoon. With that in mind it is not racist at all.

Posted by: mike at October 27, 2006 4:09 PM

This is not racist. Rice is a birdbrain idiot with no voice of her own. All she does is do what Bush says. The cartoon is appropriate.

Posted by: James at November 10, 2006 11:26 AM

What do you guys think of the Danish Cartoons?
