Regarding slut-shaming. I’m of the vintage of which girls were actually concerned about their reputations. At times I’m a bit envious at what appears to be easy-pickins, while at the same time repulsed at the licentious behavior displayed by today’s liberated, grrrrl-power, females. I really feel for the virtuous young men out there who are seeking their fair maidens. Speaking as an old dude, a girl with multiple sexual partners would have been a deal-killer in terms of matrimonial prospects. Once upon a time girls sort of intuitively knew that. Yet another victory for feminism.

    In re The Nation article:

The author is the husband of Katrina van den Heuvel, who is wicked smart and to whom attention must be paid. She is a leading light of the intellectual left in this country.

The article is attracting some mild notice here and some other right of center outlets but rest assured that it is dynamite on the left. I anticipate that we are about to see an abrupt change in the national conversation similar to what happened during WWII when Hitler invaded the USSR.

The Nation article seems to casually assume blanket amnesty for the miscreants in the Intelligence Community, apparently based on a Church Committee precedent. How’d that work out as far as preventing the IC trying to overturn elections? Let me say those words again “… trying to overturn elections?” Amnesty hell! When the rot is this pervasive in the government, not to mention endemic in a completely corrupt media, amnesty is just a time-out for evil to regroup. Heads need to roll – in the bureaucracy, the Democratic Party, and in the media.

I remember Katrina van den Heuvel. She used to be all over cable news at the beginning, i.e. it was just CNN at the time, and believe it or not, they reported news back then, usually as it happened, from all over the world. Then, she just dropped out of sight, or at least out of my sight. Must have said no to the wrong predator.

    “…intellectual left…”

If that “intellect” is based upon theft she’s not very smart.

    BONES:
I believe them bones are me
Some say we’re born into the grave
I feel so alone, gonna end up a big ole pile a them bones
Dust rise right on over my time
Empty fossil of the new scene
    I feel so alone
Gonna wind up a big ole pile a them bones
Toll due bad dream come true
I lie dead gone under red sky
I feel so alone, gonna wind up a big ole pile a them bones

Stephen Cohen has demonstrated the kind of ‘deep state’ we need more of — opinion based on investigative depth, breadth, intellectual honesty, and asking that the chips fall where they should.
Yes, it is astonishing that this appeared in The Nation; it adds credence to the complex analysis.
It seems there’s a swamp in a bog in a cesspool in a sewer o be cleared of rats and traitors.

Fine, if one wants to slut shame, shame away. Just keep in mind that Christian morality enjoins both male and female to be chaste. That’s inarguable, whatever justification there may be for a double standard due to sexual differences. Put them both in the stocks! And if Christian sexual morality, i.e., chastity, is boiled off, the only basis really left for any sexual morality is consent.

What’s this, my good man? The author has not one word of opprobrium for the two rapscallions who “ran a train” on the inebriated and vulnerable young lady? Those two cads and bounders should be exiled from polite society forthwith, if not horsewhipped. Why, the author should have draped his jacket around the young lady’s shoulders and escorted her safely home long before things came to such a a pass, were he a true gentleman, by Jove!

    “…escorted her safely home…”
    =====================
Right, and then HE becomes part of that sordid picture.
Have you not been paying attention?
Red is a danger signal, best to stay away.

Now, if she had been screaming for help when he walked past the door by all means, start breaking chairs over heads.

Vitamin A and eating lots of calories (assuming your tummy is okay) have also been recommended, if you are pretty sure it’s a virus coming on. I tried it, and it seemed to work pretty well for me.

@Snake, when my son told me Layne Staley OD’d I replied, “I thought he did that back in the late 90’s.”
Guess I was thinking of someone else.
