Wait, the cops were there in a heartbeat after the person got clocked by the statue. Where were these cops when the statue was being pulled down? Standing around watching, that’s where. What the f-bomb is going on? Why are cops standing around watching our cities being pulled apart? They’ve taken an oath to serve and PROTECT and yet they’re doing nothing. Something’s rotten in Denmark. This country is being torn down by communists and anarchists and no one is doing a damn thing about it except watch. Personally I think the left is trying to bait Trump into sending in the troops so they can make this whole sorry affair all about him and how he’s the cause of all the violence.

Police in any town or city work for the mayor. The council may have more or less control in some towns, but the mayor is the boss. A sheriff is elected, and answers to the people, and probably a county board for budgeting.
So the deal is: police generally make good money. Not great money, but good, and there are usually opportunities for overtime. All wages count toward the pension, which usually kicks in after 20 years of service. That pension is the sweet, sweet deal at the end, because if you join the PD at 20, you retire at 40, and can usually go to work for another agency, and have the chance to earn a second pension.
No cop is going to go against the mayor’s orders. Doing so risks that pension.
When Minneapolis cops wouldn’t cross the street to stop looters at the Target store, that kicked off the whole looting/destruction thing that’s been going on nationwide. Why wouldn’t the cops stop the looters? Because they were ordered to stand down. Who gave the order? Mayor Jacob Frey.
So when cops stand back and let a-holes tear down statues, it’s because they were told to stand back.

“Portsmouth police were on scene, but they did no [sic] step in to stop the protesters. The heads of the four soldiers surrounding the monument were cut off. The mood in the crowd mostly was celebratory. A marching band joined in with an impromptu performance.
The celebration, however, came to an abrupt halt shortly after 9 p.m., when the statue came down on Green. . . . Green’s wife, Tonieh Brisbane-Green, wasn’t with him at the demonstration. She said her husband of 13 years flatlined twice while he was on the way to the hospital. She told 13News Now that they have two children. Tonieh said she supports people’s right to protest, “but do it in a peaceful manner. There was no need to do all of that especially while there were so many people around that statue knowing that somebody’s going to get hurt.”
Now Green’s wife said she was upset that protesters “didn’t think” when they pulled the statue down. . . . Even more, she’s left questioning how this happened.
